Yes, I noticed that around 10:30 this morning. Came to a dead stop and then started drifting backwards. Any doubters can look at the track on marinetraffic.

She arrived in Southampton at 19.38 last night, to berth 38/9, the QE2 terminal.

Queen Victoria was on the same berth until 16.59 and then sailed, following Oceana out.

No doubt Aurora timed her arrival to enable QV to vacate the berth and to come in after the outgoing traffic had cleared, and stayed where she did off Margate to avoid loitering in the busy Dover straits.

I cannot see that being wrong - it is just a hologram that is in Southampton, and woe betide anyone who tries to board her ....

I feel sorry for those who do, in good faith, hoping to have a pleasant cruise on one of our favourite ships.

They will no doubt be battered about the ears by the hoards moaning about the paint job and the standards which they perceive have slipped yet further!

Up will go the cry "It was never like this on the Titanic"! :sarcasm:

"Standards Slipping" must be the most commonly used phrase on cruise forums.

I've yet to see standards slipping.
I've seen many minor changes but that's life.
There is nothing as constant as change.

I like the new paint job personally and think that Aurora is a beautiful looking ship.

And in every case of course - "it ruined my cruise/life."

And where's my compensation?

Or "this is a dreadful ship. I said so last time I was on it and I'll say it again when I'm back on it next month."

Looks like some of the new paint job at the stern is already coming off having seen some pictures of her from the Facebook site. :-(

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding something here, but I thought the new paint job, other than possibly walloping on a bit of white, was at the bow?

Been and gone Merv, and won't be back either. These are just my personal opinions.

Click on my usual link to see the new livery.

Apart from new carpet through out, new paint job, new mattresses in the cabins I can't see where 30 million has been spent on what the Captain kept drumming into us was 'A New Ship') unless there was allot of behind the scenes changes. We haven't been on Aurora before but you know when something is new or not. I felt the ship had been sent out (as usual) before it was ready. New carpets everywhere and then you see large holes in the vinyl flooring around the covered pool area.

I have never been on such a cold ship in all my life. Apart from our cabin everywhere else was freezing. The bars weren't fully stocked and didn't have any draught beer. I mean ale beer, not that poncey lager stuff. We asked for advertised drinks from the drinks menu, nothing out of the ordinary, only to be told, nope not available. You felt like the poor relation and test Guinea pigs because you were only on a two nighter.

Our friends who we travelled with us had nothing but problems with their cabin. No hot water from the bath/shower, loo not working, safe not working. Ad you need a manual to work out the bath taps, that's when it's not falling to bits.

Yes, the food was good, miss the silver service though. And I can't remember having to queue every morning for a hot breakfast like I did here because the hot buffet was only one sided. You felt like you were back at school. Normally there are centre islands that can be attacked from both sides with the chef topping up when things get low.

So, all in all we were not impressed and wouldn't rush to sail on her again.

We loved Bruge though and would definitely return there.

Sorry to hear that Stephen. It all sounds as though it's a rush job, too much to do in too little time. Not good at all. Hopefully things will be better for those on the Christmas cruise.

Sorry it didn't come up to expectations Stephen. We have a friend on the Christmas cruise. Be interesting to hear from him if the "snags" have been fixed!

Aren't Romig and Wina on the Aurora for the Christmas cruise. Perhaps one of them will do a review. I just hope things are OK for them.
