Suva - Fiji
Hi all,
Has anyone been here?
I have been researching and have found markets and shopping which is fine for an hour or so but what else is here?

Re: Suva - Fiji
Had to look that one up
Seems they have a park with a Fijian Museum, a Cathedral plus a number of old colonial buildings from a bygone ere including some wooden bungalows.
Also, Lonely Planet says ...
Introducing Suva
If you've only come to Fiji for the islands and beaches then you best join the people on package tours and avoid Suva (pronounced soo-va) altogether. Nestled into a yawning harbour, this city is sticky with sweat and industry but it's Fiji's most concentrated confluence of ethnicities and cultures. Swimming in the urban milieu you'll discover the influence of every island and background.
... Go for a curry is my advice

The shops and, markets stall are very near the port. Lovely flowers for sale. The first impression you get of Suva it is dirty and it is near the port.
There will be loads of locals touting taxi rides and tours. Mini buses doing tours etc.You can just get a taxi if you like and ask for a drive to see the sights. Taxis are not expensive, and not very posh looking but they get you there and back. Haggle a price if need be. Thet take you to see the Pesidential Palace, beaches, rural retreats, Scenery, etc.
The taxi will take you to places that the ships tours do.
You can easily get a taxi in most ports in the Pacific. Pago Pago, Apia, Fiji are all ports you can do on your own.
