Queen Victoria Refit
Large article in yesterdays Daily Telegraph Travel about QV.
I Quote:-
It seems that the refit scheduled for December 2015 has now been brought forward and QV will enter the shipyard in Hamburg in early January 2015 for a multimillion pound refit.
The makeover will create nine single room staterooms remodelled from part of the ships casino. Large flat screen televisions are being installed in all cabins, while in the Lido waiters will serve hot drinks at all meals.
Refit is being brought forward because a bearing on one of the ships propulsion units needs replacing- which means that the QV will then be in tip top condition for her World cruise starting 20th January 2015. End of Quote.
I imagine there will be many other changes as well as those mentioned above.

Lucky you Gill. Should be lovely. Wonder if the aft suites will be affected. Hope not or if so then only in a good way.
We are on again in November so hope her existing problem doesn't cause any trouble

Thanks for posting that - I wonder if that's when they are going to change the aft accommodation, or will that be done after the worldie?
I can appreciate that a bearing would need attention, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if they made the same change to the casino area as I believe they have done on QE. My understanding is that there have been some changes to the QE shops too. However, maybe the aft accommodation change on QV is one step too far for a brief dry dock visit in January - my understanding was though that if the aft accommodation does get changed, then possibly the balconies will be made smaller is on the books? Hope not.
Oh well - happy outings all!

Do you mean this November, Anne? How lovely if so, well ,lovely whenever you're on of course. We are trying Oceania Riviera in November, it was too good an offer to pass by, but I am not convinced they will spirit us away from Cunard.Anne D wrote:Lucky you Gill. Should be lovely. Really looking forward to this one as we haven't been on QV for a couple of years.

Hi Gill
Yes I mean this November. I have looked at Oceania and been very tempted but they have very few cruises that go from Southampton and sadly we no longer fly. Hope you have a smashing time and let us know what you think.

I put the tired smilie because have been doing the garden with help of my son then cooked a family dinner for seven . Proud to say have finally got my pork crackling perfect. Absolutely whacked so off to bed.
