Yes, also been a couple of times, and agree it is an easy city to walkabout. Also went at Christmas, and whilst cold there was no snow. In fact on that trip it was colder in Holland.
Us too, in 2012 ?

In Oslo we were dressed for a forecast of -18 but it was ‘ only ‘ -9 so when I was interviewed by Norwegian TV I told them that we loved their City but were a little disappointed that it was not as cold as we had hoped it would be. Do Norwegians have a sense of humour I wondered in that moment ;)

Three memories from our visit. We did a walking your with a woman who was clearly in training for the Norwegian Olympic sprint squad. She walked so fast that at every point she stopped she'd finished her spiel by the time most of the group caught up. We arrived back from the 3 hour tour almost an hour early! We vowed to never again pay for a walking your and merely use the availability of one as a guide that we can do our own thing.

One stop was the ice bar where everything including the "glasses" for our included drink were made of ice. One woman asked if we could take them home as souvenirs!

And it was three days after our visit that the nutter went on a rampage killing people there.

We had a walk around town, up to the Palace and then walked out to Vigeland, the sculpture park to view everything depicting the growth of man from embryo into old age. It took us about 20 minutes but is easy to find. I must say it was well worth the effort. The tours do call in there but they miss so much . It was the highlight of our visit to this city.

Remember the Sculpture Park well oldbluefox! We had a good tour there and beautiful weather. Weve been on the Baltic cruise quite a few times - there^s always something new to see. Last trip there was on the Queen Elizabeth in June 2018 and I do have pics of Klaipeda. Recent digital photos are easier to find than those taken with a camera over 10 years ago!

Thanks to all for this virtual cruise - our cruising days are under query for the foreseeable as I am waiting for replacement hip when Covid allows.

I'd be interested to see pics of Klaipeda if only to see what we have been missing. Our trips to the Baltic have never included this stop off.
Hopefully you will get your hip replacement done soon, Jill and you are soon back up and about.

If I can get Cap'n Mob out of the bar tonight we should be in Skagen tomorrow. If there's nobody for this port we will carry on to Copenhagen. By that time Mob will have sobered up!!!

I went to Skagen last year on a Baltic cruise - only have a few photos mostly fun ones of the family struggling against the wind whilst out on the spit - on one side of which is the Baltic Sea and the other side the North Sea. We visited the buried church - the sand shifting and moving all the time and the town itself has various museums and shops. I was disappointed that the Skagen watches are not made there but in New York! Well worth a visit if you ever get the opportunity to go there ;)

Stupid really, but we were surprised how little the Little Mermaid actually is. And her setting wasn't what we expected either.

Not at all. We were also surprised at how little the Mermaid is. We only knew where she was because of the crowds taking photographs. :D

Looking at your photograph of the Mermaid there is nothing else to show how big or small she is.

You're right! Largely because the background was pretty uninspiring!
