There was an announcement on Twaddle earlier today that they are having trouble with their payment systems but I think it is across the board as their webcam page has been unavailable all morning. Bloody IT chimps !!

Mine was debit card.

Just spent 20 minutes on the phone to bank (how I hate Indian call centres) and the transaction has been cancelled.

Somewhere towards the end of March - cannot recall the exact date.

Anyway I have just checked and the very nice man at the bank has given me my money back :D

I paid about mid April but I don't have enough cash to pay twice so they probably didn't bother with me !!

This is with all Carnival brands in the UK, P&O, Cunard, and Princess Cruises.

They have taken mine twice, spoke to Princess and they said they are aware of this and said it was all 3 brands, they will try to sort out today.

Spoken to bank also it seems that the transactions were around March this year.

Quite an expensive cruise at this rate. LOL!!

Merv has a good letter template in which "ruined my life" and "compo" figure large !!

On Facebook Cunard are talking the same problem for their customers.

One of the blessings of internet banking is the ability to check balances easily.

Apparently it is affecting all Carnival UK brands for payments made between December 2016 and April 2017

The demands for compo are rife on Facecloth. Reasonable I think to expect recompense for bank charges etc incurred but compo seems OTT and premature. My first concern would be to make sure I got the money back.

Have just received a "bland" email from P&O trying absolve themselves of any responsibility over this.

If you have problems then contact your bank "in the first instance" and then tell your bank to contact Elavon Merchant Services.

No suggestion that if you are out of pocket in any way that P&O will recompense you!

Though if Elavon are the guilty party it would seem a reasonable pass. But I'd hope Carnival UK with their clout would make it clear to Elavon that if they don't sort it quickly and to the satisfaction of customers their days as a contractor to Carnival are at an end

Just checked bank account and have a "pending debit" showing for Cunard. This relates to a deposit paid by debit card (via Bolsover) in March for a cruise in 2018. The amount hasn't yet been actually debited yet. I phoned Elavon Merchant services who confirmed that it was debited in error and they have authorised a refund. However, this refund may take up to 7 days.

Also in April this year, we paid P & O, by debit card. the full amount of a cruise which leaves tomorrow! Elavon also checked this payment for me and said that although they had requested payment from my Bank - the error had by then come to light and the payment will not be taken again from my account.

I received 2 emails this morning, one from Cunard and one from P & O, advising me of the possible errors. As we're off tomorrow it doesnt leave much time to sort out. At least its the smaller amount that seems to be a problem - to have the full cost of a cruise deducted from my bank account would leave a rather large hole!!

Hope they let us on board tomorrow!!

The thing that I find annoying with whoever is sorting it out is the length of time it is taking to process these "refunds". OK the argument will be that it is the "banking system" that is causing the delay but that is not acceptable. We are not talking of a few pounds we are, literally, talking of thousands of pounds.

Now P&O are saying that it is not fraud - excuse me if somebody takes some unauthorised money out of somebody else's bank account it is fraud.

It would if it were not for the fact the there is no mention of them on my back account - it is P&O Cruises who is the recipient.

As has been said many times before - we all accept that things will go wrong from time to time but it is how these things are handled that become important and this is being handled very badly in my opinion.

as many have said on FB - the hanging on to card details long after payment has gone thro' is a very dubious practice

It does seem very worrying nice they are hanging onto card details.
The world pay system is used for the payment of shore excursions as well.
I am puzzled about the payment via Bolsover with a debit card Jill.
How is that done ? Surely you pay the travel agent then the cruise company take it from their account.

After reading about this problem yesterday I checked our banking cruise account and there was no sign of any additional payments being taken. Today I've had the email from P&O telling me about this but still there is no sign of any unexpected transactions. Hopefully we are unaffected.

I wonder if those being affected are agreeing to the automatic balance payment being taken when due from the same card as they used for the deposit.

Nothing from my bank as yet and they would normally text me for larger spends. Hope everyone affected gets their money back speedily.

Nor mine!

I spoke to Bolsover - with whom I booked Cunard cruise. They said (as far as I remember)they pass my card details to Cunard who then process the payment.

I booked the cruise on 28th February and the deposit didnt hit my bank account until 7th March.
