What's yours?

Post by Not so ancient mariner » 28 Jan 2014, 20:13

I may never be the last one to post on LOTP - but a least here I can be the first!!

My hobbies - other than cruising, of course - are photography, model railways, and volunteering on the Festiniog Railway.

I would like to get into model railways. I like simple video games (although I used to enjoy Pharoah/Cleopatra, but Win 7 won't run Cleo) and occasionally a bit of video editing.

I like to read (mostly escapism fiction), do puzzles (jigsaw, crosswords and Sudoku), visit new places and unfortunately eating out which now means I'm on Onelifes Pinch an Inch diet

I read a lot, like sudoku and quizzes and like to walk when my poorly foot allows me! Just starting greetings card making.

Sci-Fi, Horror, Motor sports, IT, electrical and mechanical, Physics, Finance, Psychology ... there just are not enough hours in the day
.
The one thing I avoid like the plague is gardening ... Julie knows she either looks after the garden or I get a contractor in to dump 40 tonnes of concrete over it and I turn it into a mechanics yard.

I really must dig out my old stamp collection again

Forgot to add going to cinema. Hubby and I go every Monday to our local Cineworld. We pay a monthly subscription to go as many times as we want and as hubby is disabled purchased a CEA card I get in free. Works out at £3.78 a week.

M - After spending most of my working life in the BBC now heavily involved in a largely-volunteer-run Community Radio station in our area.

Also enjoy eating out and travel (other forms as well as cruising).

Then there are the grandchildren - a great way of consuming time and energy.

Apart from that I'd like to end world poverty, save baby animals and deliver world peace.

T - shares in three of the above (eating, travel, children) and also enjoys cooking (which doesn't help M's figure but what the heck.

I like reading, family history and jigsaw puzzles.

I also like eBaying, although I'm not sure that that's a hobby

I used to love sailing but don't get the time to get out on the water these days so boat and board had to go, anything outdoors interests me whether it be walking, cycling, gardening or DIY.

Since retirement I have renewed my passion for woodwork so on rainy days I am to be found in my workshop chipping, turning or sawing away the hours and keeping out of Cheryl's way.

We both love to travel, Cheryl likes the warmer destinations whereas I would never stray far from the U.K.if there was a choice despite the weather.

I am a big fan of re-cycling and Cheryl dreads it when I go out to the tip with the trailer because I sometimes come back with more than I took down there then spend hours restoring or converting them to something useful which usually ends up on Ebay.

Officially they don't here either but the crew down here put things to one side that look like they can be re-used and the good stuff makes em a bit of beer money. A couple of the old hands know me well so unless it is really good stuff they don't ask for anything and most of the stuff I take they are glad to get rid of it. Mostly I take broken furniture made of hardwood that I can use in my workshop.

The re-cycling tips I use are franchised out by the council and they are only interested in scrap metal and fabrics that they can make money on.

Well apart from cruising/travelling (and the research which goes along with that), there's craftwork, Sudoku and photography - which means getting to really know my new camera.

Wishing everyone 'happy hobby time' for 2016.

Em
