R604 Fjords

#1

Post by qbman1 »

My life is ruined !

Just received a missive from P&O to advise that due to the fact that they "have been unable to secure a suitable anchor point in Geiranger" they are replacing this port with a call to Olden.

Not the most interesting of ports and, once you have been up to the Briksdal glacier, there is a limit to how to pass the time profitably. Any suggestions please ?

What does "unable to secure a suitable anchor point" really mean? They must have known they were due to tender when the itinerary was produced so what has happened since?

Sounds a bit like another of those feeble excuses to me !

It sounds like another ship has muscled in, maybe another Carnival sibling.

We've been to Olden a few times and the walk up the valley is very pleasant but there is a cycle hire shop right opposite the dock and I might try that next time. The tour with the boat trip is not bad.

Done the walk - both ways. Not sure about a cycle ride, though, but I might have a look at the boat trip !! Thanks

I'm not worried about the aesthetics - just the fact that I can't usually sit down for three days afterwards !!

That could ruin your life. For three days anyway.

Every time he submits a claim Edgers automatically sends him a dozen new forms with the cheque.

The ride on a RIB, along the fjord from Olden, is great fun and getting into the survival suit is a truly memorable experience ;)

The RIB has some seats but the fun is to be had on sitting on a type of motorbike seat, especially when cornering at high speed. :) which is what I did with OH safely in the back jammed in between two other passengers.

We're on R603 too so we'll be in the Glass House on Friday afternoon if anyone fancies a drink!
