Aurora to South America R801
I'll only do a short posting as I'm sure Sue will be along soon with her lovely long blog. Well it's Saturday afternoon and last time I looked it was Force 8. We've had mostly force 9 since leaving Southampton, with a brief Force 6 and occasional Force 8! So it's bumpy and in the library where I'm typing this it's incredibly moving! I think people are now used to staggering around, seeing people queue to get into Crows Nest of for the Captain's Welcome Aboard party was like watching a crowd of drunks on a Saturday night, apart from the fact that most of us hadn't had anything to drink yet. We have Captain Alan Hawkins but he leaves us in Salvador and then it's David Pemridge (?) after that for the rest of the trip.
We were supposed to be getting to Madeira tomorrow morning but last night the Captain told us that he was making speed to try to outrun a storm - you mean it could be worse! - and that he hoped to be in Madeira by 11 tonight, so we could have a peaceful night's sleep. Here's hoping. I'm sure Sue will be along soon to tell you more.

looking at the ventusky /weather site you have a storm coming across the atlantic at a fair pace. so full speed ahead is definatly needed.
regards gilly.
