P&O used to sell a Californian Red which was based on a heady Italian grape, yours sounds ' lighter ' but worth a try
Am I a philistine in my wine choices, they are primarily New World wines, I like, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Malbec, Pinotage etc. I buy it from the supermarket preferably when there is 25% off for 6 or more, and if it can be paired with an offer on the wine so much the better. I look for Yellow Tail, Hardy's, Barefoot, McGuigan etc and I am also prepared to try others when on offer. On price I generally look in the range of £5-£7, and TBH I rarely find I have chosen a wrong un.

We all buy what we enjoy and pay what we consider to be value for money.

I used to do the same as you ( indeed still do albeit slightly different choices ) but a chum introduced me to a number of the more expensive ' classic ' wines and proved to me that the taste, purely to illustrate, of a 1991 Borolo is not nearly as good as the same brand more matured 1989 version that was only £2 dearer. At this point I signed up with Laithwaites but only purchased their higher rated and popular wines plus a few classics when on offer just to see if there was any difference to those I was buying at the Supermarket.

For me there is a difference so for example I buy from Waitrose their Barossa Shiraz at 25% off when available rather than anything that Sainsbugs serves up. A far superior taste ( for us ) and only a couple of pounds extra. For special meals we will pay much higher prices for the classic wines, expensive but far less so than P&O or in a decent restaurant of course.

Is there anything else you would like to know

We're enjoying ourselves and I think we've been able to tire our dog out, she is lying snoring at the moment 😂 The weather hasn't been brilliant but has mainly stayed dry so have had plenty of beach and woods walks.
We were at Roseisle yesterday nice beach walk then sanies with a wood walk after😉. Fort George today in the morning and woods in the afternoon.
This morning we spotted seals and basking sharks (with out the need of binoculars) we seen some dolphins later. A good result 👍

Very sunny up here in the south northlands, could be a nice day if it stays like this.

I will have to take a trip up to your neck of the woods and visit one or two distilleries of which you have many. Any recommendations.

We, especially Mobietta, are getting hacked off with all the log shifting / stacking etc year on year so in a bold experiment I will be stumping up for a wrapped crate of kiln dried logs and a £100's worth of smokeless ovals ( enviro friendly coal ).

Meanwhile one's remaining logs from last year are at the ready for a temperature dip.

I'm having to dip into my wallet myself, which goes against the grain, but needs must.

Having the man in at mum in-laws in a couple of weeks to cut up the main trunk of her fallen copper beach. I've had all the branches off and cut up for logs but the main trunk at approx. 30ft long is to0 big for me to deal with my bow saw, plus it's going to need more than the standard chain saw to cut up the base of the tree which must be three feet across.
