Ventura.

We won't bother with the midnight buffet. I've heard it gets a bit rough up there ;)

Stephen over on CC there is lots of debate on how P&O are replacing single use plastic, so your first report needs to advise how is HP sauce being provided, and how are they supplying milk to the cabin tea trays?

That's just for the inside cabins. Balcony cabins get a herd and a tap

Single use materials. On our Aurora cruise we were talking to a procurements officer and he mentioned thatP&O would be looking to limit single use materials. We did see some effects. The little marmite discs in MDR had to be requested. As a replacement for the the discs, in buffet a large plastic tub (the size of which could cause hypertension in the whole of the county of Hampshire) was gently reposing between a couple of Stutte jam jars.

Foil wrapped butter pats disappeared about 10 days into the cruise (not sure if this was due to shortages or a trial of using unwrapped portions) and were replaced by star shaped piped butter portions. The problem with these (in the buffet) was that they were offered in trays over ice and consequently were rock hard (silent titter as Major Fossington-Gore went puce as the rock hard butter met his hyper friable Horizon toast and cause a crumb explosion) or was stored next to the sausages and was so runny that the knife provided couldn’t pick it up.

Pre-packs of cheese were not seen, only small cut portions.

I guess the removal of packaging will cause one or two hygiene challenges for P&O.

Toothpicks were not seen in MDR.

In the Horizon there was never any shortage of pre paced tea bags ( all varieties were available)- now that is a change from our last cruise where all of the ‘fancy stuff’ was in very short supply.

In the bars some drinks (cocktails etc ) were served with a straw but cola etc. was not (although I’m sure you would get one if you asked.) I ordered a martini one evening (the little boy lives on!) and the triad of olives were served impaled on a super thin plastic straw. I thought a wooden cocktail stick would have been used.

Now, I have described these as changes- they certainly were for us, but we didn’t cruise on P&O in 2018 so maybe things have been like this for a while.
Chin, chin.
