Arcadia Repair and Conversion
I see that Lloyd Warft has the contract to undertake the works on Arcadia at their Bremerhaven ship yard. The 82,505gt cruise ship will stay in Kaiserdock II, Bremerhaven between November 26 and December 12, 2013 for the installation of a new superstructure on her upper deck adding 23 new balconied cabins and one suite, as well as a sun deck. That must be well worked out in a time scale to carry what looks like a major job. I would think the new deck will be complete and waiting for her arrival and then just be lifted on and welded or what ever they do to secure it.

Just had a quick look at the future deck plans - I bet that single balcony is going to be popular.

Re: Arcadia Repair and Conversersion
We hope to be booking the cruise immediately before this refit.
Does this mean that she will be in a poor state of decor etc because she is due the refit?
Does it mean that on the last night we can trash the place as it doesn't matter?

Forget it - there will be so many contractors on board that there will be nothing left to trash.Capt Black wrote:Does it mean that on the last night we can trash the place as it doesn't matter?

Re: Arcadia Repair and Conversersion
We were on the old Arcadia on the cruise just before it was converted into the adult only. A close friends daughter was on board, and we had met her a couple of times. As we disembarked, she handed a black bag. It was full of redundant items from the children's club, great for the grand children!

Hope they get a decent plumber this time then - the aft staterooms have been a nightmare with blocked toilets etc since the last refit.

Also - they have changed the grade of toilet paper and this now doesn't disperse as it used to.
