Arcadia info
Hi,
We have booked on Arcadia and would like some info please.
We are on freedom dining and was wondering if the belvedere in the evening did a similar menu to the beach house on Ventura ...cook your own steaks etc.
Any rough idea of cost of a spa package for 14 nights and what's included. Is it good value or would a day rate be better ( if they do one).
Not been on her since 2008 and she has had a refit since then. Looking forward to it after reading the various recent reviews.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Arcadia info
The belvedere is the main buffet restaurant, whereas the Beach House is a new chargeable eating place. The Beach House is nice if you want a change but not something I would be rushing to experience again - tried this on Oceana for a birthday celebration as only alternative was MPW's Café Jardin.

Re: Arcadia info
Simple answer is No, RB
Arcadia has two specialist dining venues but the buffet is always the buffet.
We really enjoyed Freedom Dining for the first time in November and doubt we'll ever go back to fixed.
We had two evening meals in the buffet, Thai & Indian, and both were pretty good but not up to the experience in the MDR, in my opinon.
The Belevedere is what it is. Great for a snack.
Sue Kersh is best to answer any Spa questions. She is clearly the Spa Goddess

Re: Arcadia info
Thanks guys.
My reason for asking about the belvedere was I thought I read somewhere that they were looking to roll out the Beach house theme to all of the fleet and wondered if this had happened or did I dream it. First time on freedom on our last cruise and we ate in the beach house on Ventura on 4 occasions as we didn't fancy the MDR and enjoyed what we had. I had the same sweet all 4 times.
Like you Barney I can't see us going back to fixed.

Re: Arcadia info
The Spa package is definitely less expensive if you book as soon as you get on board. On our last cruise 23 nights it cost £280 for a couple. For a 14 night I would guess at no more than £250 per couple and probably £225.
The daily rate they quote is £20 per person but they often have specials which works out slightly less expensive.
As others have posted there is No Beach House on Arcadia. I doubt they have room for one on there as half the Belvedere is used by crew for dining in the evening.

Re: Arcadia info
I know some of you don't do Facebook but apparently P&O have done away with the semi formal/jacket required dress code on the worldie when it's not supposed to go until May. They failed to inform passengers until a couple of days into the cruise. This has caused confusion and mayhem.
Whilst its p@@s poor not informing people its not the end of the world. You can still wear your jacket!

I guess I must be the only person in the world who has worn a jacket to dinner when it has not been compulsory ?

I can understand the confusion, but not the mayhem.RB1961 wrote:I know some of you don't do Facebook but apparently P&O have done away with the semi formal/jacket required dress code on the worldie when it's not supposed to go until May. And as you say, you can still wear a jacket if you want, and women's clothes can be interchangeable between semi formal to casual, and formal to semi formal. So everyone can still wear the clothes they've bought with them.
But P & O should have communicated this better, and particularly for the people flying out to join the cruise to tell them there's no need for a jacket, so they can save weight in their cases.

Re: Arcadia info
Yes, it's true - they did announce after a couple of days of the current worldie that the changes to the dress code would be implemented early and with immediate effect. Plenty of moaners, as you can imagine. It really doesn't make any difference to those going all the way but I can see that those flying home after one or two legs might be slightly aggrieved if they have taken jackets "unnecessarily". I hope P&O will have the sense to notify those flying out though.qbman1 wrote:I know some people on the worldie - I'll e-mail and ask what is going on. Bet some of them are having a right old moan !
I do wonder whether anyone at Carnival really thinks these things through ?

Will (or does) this apply to the Aurora world cruise? We are flying out to Cape Town and sailing back and I would hate to have to take any unnecessary overcoats.

The obvious answer QBob is to ask P&O. But whether you'll get a sensible answer is another matter.

Re: Arcadia info
I wonder why they implemented it now. What do the staff do any different on a jacket required to a smart casual except print it in the Horizon and put a little sign outside the crows nest entrance. The meals are the same.
If so many are cheesed off it's easy to re-instate it as no-one knew it was changing.
Anyway as for my cruise I demand some more obc as I didn't know either..
Should I write the letter now..

Probably so people don't have to bring a jacket if they're flying - which would be good thinking if they let them know!
And yes to the letter. Ruined your life etc.....

I tried that once. We were flying out to the Caribbean and sailing back on Azura so I rang them and asked if a jacket was really necessary and they said, 'no sir, a shirt and tie will be fine'. So I and about twenty others found ourselves going to dinner wearing the top half of a DJ.Mervyn and Trish wrote:The obvious answer QBob is to ask P&O. Anything just as long as you were wearing a jacket. For some a cardigan was considered sufficient.Mervyn and Trish wrote:No trousers!!!!!!?
I have checked the P&O site for dress codes and the Arcadia world cruise is showing just the two codes but Aurora still has the three. Our 18 night cruise has six black tie nights. Six!

Try 20 formal, 22 semi formal and 38 casual. It was great packing for that!!
Last year I think we had 6 formal on a 20 night cruise and just 4 formal on a 30 night cruise.
They make it up as they go along, it seems. Anyway, we take enough for any adjustments after we have boarded.

Re: Arcadia info
We've got 7 formals on our upcoming Oceana cruise, and 28 casuals.
That's about the right mix for a longer cruise
