Happydays A611 part 2
Here's the rest
We never went to any of the Headliner Shows as we've been to them several times before, I know it's different dancers/singers but still the still the same songs and show so gave them a miss there were good reports from those that did go. People were going for seats early and earlier as the cruise progressed for the first show before 8pm I spoke to some who were missing dessert and coffee just to be sure of getting a seat (to competitive for me) We tended to go to the Planet Bar (or is that Ventura?) for a drink after dinner then down to watch the comedian/entertainer usually in the Manhattan Bar. The Beatles Experience was quite good perhaps because we hadn't seen them before, there was also a comedian never seen before but can't remember his name! should take notes ha! ha!
We like to take part in the quizzes (I know sad) and made a team with another couple we met on the first evening (you guessed it at a quiz) and had some good results we won four syndicate quizzes and the progressive quiz that's held on sea days. One evening we went to Brodie's for a drink (as we do) and to take part in the individual quiz, there was a couple sitting at the bar shall we say feeling merry and he kept calling out answers (wrong) and eventually the stall had to ask him to stop. Later the same evening we went back to Brodie's (another quiz)and they were still there almost falling from their stools when the barmen refused to serve them anymore alcohol (should have happened earlier) the customer then started to preform telling them he was the customer and waving his cruise card about etc etc security was called, they said he could have one more if he then went quietly but no deal they then appealed to his wife/partner but that didn't do any good so they escorted him to the entrance and I could hear no more but there was plenty of talking with much back slapping and smiles before he left the area. I said to my husband earlier if he wasn't careful he would be removed from the cruise (NOT my husband) We never saw them again hopefully he learned a lesson.
The dress code tended to be well observed although the "causal evening " became very casual by some of the passengers On the formal evenings there was lots of nice dresses and dinner jackets (trousers included) as usual some people didn't do "it" but I just ignore that and enjoy getting dressed up.
On this cruise there seemed to be a lot walking sticks in evidence with plenty of them being used to wave and point you had to be keep an eye out for them. Wheelchairs and scooters on board as well. I don't know if it had anything to do with the destination and date (June) as when I think back it was the same when we went on Azura to the fjords in June a few years ago.
The Captain Robert Camby and crew were friendly they actually stopped to talk or at least smile and say hello as they passed!
Our next two cruises are booked but are fly cruises on Princess going to New York doing New England and Canada in September then Japan and Vietnam April next year both are for two weeks each. P&O don't do these destinations for this length of time. One of the benefits is we will be "Elite" with Princess
That's all folks

I cannot understand why the Headliners shows are not changed perhaps every two years. It's OK for those new cruisers who have not seen them but P&O seem content to ignore the entertainment for their regular customers. It's the same with comedians same people same jokes.

I wouldn't quite get that carried away but he is good at what he does. I always think a Captain's role is partly PR and, unlike some I could name, he is always visible around the ship.Suekersh wrote:No not dreaming.
