we operate a freedom dinning programme at Dark Mansion, in so far as ,you are free to sod off and go and get food elsewhere, that way we don't have the potential for sitting with unsuitable types for the duration of your visit and we don't have to worry about informing people we are not going to be sitting with them, coz they are numpties
see what I did as well

They are a bunch of nutters....whycantibecruising wrote:After reading through this I really wish I knew you all. You sound such lovely people.
You are quite happy insulting each other to the hilt.
Have you all met each other?
I have met a few from this forum, and can confirm they are lovely.
Some of us have even though having never met, have "known" each other for years.
Its a very friendly forum, I dont post a lot, but read a lot.
As meg says there will always be the "odd one" but as someone who is a member of a few cruise forums, the people on here are the most genuine and friendly.

You don't have to inform me gb that you are going to Weatherspoons cos if there's one within swimming distance I will probably be there waiting for you.qbman1 wrote:OK - are there fixed dining times and do I need to let you know if I decide to go to Wetherspoons instead ?

Wetherspoons? Well our local one is the only place to be if you want a good fight, so we tend to avoid.

Not necessarily the table mates but always the table waiters.Dark Knight wrote:For the first time on a cruise we have fixed dinning times, normally we alternate between the dinning room on freedom dinning and the buffet, depending on the MDR menu and we decide where to eat on the night
So ,on a fixed table do people inform your table mates, you won't be eating with them on that night or do people just do their own thing regardless
Kind of a courtesy thing.
And while not strictly necessary when dining in the Grills, we do inform our table mates as well. The reason being that usually after the first night in such good company, there is an informal agreement to arrive within a time span. Otherwise one might just of well requested a table for two.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mervyn and Trish on Britannia's Maiden Cruise.
Like you, having read a few threads there are some I would avoid in the unlikely event they were to cruise on the same lines as me.

]Hi Solent Richard,
Just for clarification l can't see where 'whycantitbe' has said he/she wishes to avoid anyone? Secondly l'm puzzled to understand why you think others wouldn't use the same cruise lines as you?
Oh...and l don't know if Sir Merv told you this but he has a country estate next to mine in Wales and although not wishing to play the oneupmanship card mine unlike his has magnificent views across the river Dovey.

"Country estate" is rather a grand description for your houseboat on the Dovey OL !!Onelife wrote:Oh...and l don't know if Sir Merv told you this but he has a country estate next to mine in Wales and although not wishing to play the one upmanship card mine unlike his has magnificent views across the river Dovey.

Hi qb,
It's no wonder you are getting confused if you can't tell the difference between a houseboat and a Yacht!!

Now now Keefy
nobody likes a braggart, just because you are landed gentry and have a few bob, does not mean you have to rub it in, leave that sort of nonsense to those that think they are a special snowflake
Ps its not a yacht , its a floating gin palace

Try looking up 'facetious' and 'reading between the lines'.Onelife wrote:Hello Whycantitbecruising.Solent Richard wrote:whycantibecruising wrote:After reading through this I really wish I knew you all. You sound such lovely people.

PS. As a Pembrokeshire lad by birth the Afon Dyfi never appealed me as a place to reside. Needless to say I turned my back on the Principality years ago and opted for life on the Solent: far more civilised and only 20 minutes from Southampton's cruise terminals.

Hi Solent,
Perhaps you should look up 'factual' and 'presumptious'
Yes' I did read between the lines which is why you should be more 'factual' about what 'whycantitbe' said and less 'presumptuous' about what you think others would do.

For a thread that started off about etiquette this one seems to be about as far away from that as possible!
