Oriana complete refit end November!

#1

Post by CaroleF »

Just seen on P&O's Facebook page that Oriana is going to Hamburg at the end of November for a full refit. There are pictures of fabrics to be used and furniture for the cabins. Take a look, they are obviously spending a lot of money going by the drawings and pictures shown. I expect there is also a posting on the P&O main site under News but haven't looked there.

Yay! We are on her immediately afterwards so really looking forward to being the first to have a chance to mess up the new furnishings !!

Bet she still shakes, though !!

That will increase the rumours about her imminent sale

I'm on Oriana on Sunday, so I'll miss the re-fit.

Just a bit startled about this comment from the blurb 'Bathrooms and toilets will undergo repairs and upgrades to bring them up to the standard that our guests deserve'

Makes you wonder what they're like now if they are not up to standard!

We spoke with a third officer whilst on board last month. There are no plans to do anything to reduce the vibration. He said it was an inbuilt problem re position and speed of the engines in the design and no fix was practical

I wonder what it must be like in those cabins in the stern. It was bad enough for the short time we were in the dining room so is it just as bad in the living accommodation?

I would have thought it was time to replace her rather than refit.

Will they be adding more balconies in the refit?

My guess is that as she's now 21 years old this might be a final refit before sale in maybe 5 years. Interesting thing will then be to whom? Sale to a UK operator risks fans going with her but with the old Arcadia now in the C&M fleet there is clearly an appetite in such lines

Please replace her with a Vista class and not another huge thing. Oh, and call it Canbera...!!

A sale to CMV and sailing from Tilbury would be rather handy!

I'm not sure P&O is ready for a new Canberra, at least not until the 'it wasn't like this on Canberra' crowd are no longer cruising

Our first cruise on her was one cabin from the back on port side B-deck. Every night I had to jam the freebie slippers under the wardrobe doors to stop them shaking and during the night, the bulbs in the bedside lights unscrewed themselves !!

Don't think there are any structural changes planned - it's just furnishings and decor

I've had a brochure thingy with all the details - colour schemes etc. - seems to be mostly cabin refurbishments and new decor in the dining rooms and public areas - I quote " the ultimate in comfort and relaxation". It will be ready for your trip at Christmas Cubie ;)

Perhaps they'll put a few extra sun loungers out the back and call them "vibrating massage beds" ?!
