Christmas cruise and sunbed shortage don't often appear in the same sentence!

I've never found it a problem to get a sunbed when crossing the Bay of Biscay in the middle of December !!

Fair weather traveller - you need to add a little excitement to your life ! Crossing Biscay in winter is a bit like sleeping with a cannibal - you never know how the fancy will take her !!

Funnily enough, but typical of the place, our only December crossings were flat calm. Got a bit choppy further down off Portugal

Yes, we've been lucky and had a few flat-calm crossings but more often than not the earth moves !

As Neil Turnbull always used to say - "it's the North Atlantic in December - what do you expect" ?!

We've been in the North Atlantic in July and it was one of the worst crossings we've had! We shall be in the North Atlantic again in December, we must be mad!

We've always encountered worse weather off the coast of Portugal rather than in the Bay itself.
Sorry Mods, have strayed somewhat from the original thread. We don't like lying in a row of sunbeds either and rarely go up to the pool unless it's to get to the buffet. I don't like swimming but John does - his problem being that he's incredibly short sighted and when he goes into the pool without any glasses, when he gets out he can't see to get to where he's left his glasses! He does have a proper prescription snorkelling mask but he looks a bit odd if he wears it in the pool! People might wonder what he's hoping to see!

Never heard of one of those, Carole, but it is certainly something my wife could do with. We didn't know there was such a thing. Did John just ask his optician, or doctor ?
