I usually take a litre of Morgan's Spiced Rum on board to have as a tipple while in the cabin getting ready for dinner. My questions is do I pack one in my hold luggage or is there a shop or duty free at the arrivals when we land or one at the port before we board?

I certainly would not be putting a bottle in my hold luggage.

According to this link there is a duty free shop on the arrivals at Malta airport - no idea what it sell (last time I was in Malta airport was 40 years ago)

Last time we were in Malta the whole of the cruise terminal had been refurbished to quite a high standard (compared to what was there before that would not have been difficult!) but as to what it sell duty free I cannot say.

The last time we were in Malta it was only for the day and we went on an excursion.
