Remain on the ship in Southampton?
This is the heading of an amusing and interesting discussion on Cruise Critic Cunard forums at the moment.
Visitors are giving tips on the delights of leaving the ship on back to back TA crossings. Amusingly many of them head to Boots!
I am now seeing Southampton in a new light!

Aah neither of those but the no added sugar shortbread fingers sounds worth a look.

Going to the ' Pig in the Wall ' for lunch could also change perceptions of Southampton …. just saying.

Ha ha I''ve been following this thread too, I've never tried Boots shortbread but I'm intrigued why anyone would want to buy food when it's all available on the ship, I could understand folk going off the ship to eat in a restaurant but to buy biscuits ???
Ahh well each to their own, we regularly do B to B and I love the ship on turnaround day when it's empty I certainly wouldn't get off to go shopping.

I've not been on cruise critic before til today. Interesting thread, maybe Cunard should jump on the bandwagon and do an excursion there?!

They already do tours en route to the airport for fly cruise guests. I've not noticed any for back to back guests, but would seem a good idea on the transatlantics to give the Americans a flavour of the UK. Mind you their knowledge of geography probably means they'd expect Edinburgh, Cambridge, Oxford, the Lake District, Snowdonia and London on a half day excursion!

As far as I'm aware they do offer tours for passengers in transit on QM2 but whether this is the 'norm' I wouldn't know perhaps it depends if the demand is there.
Ha ha you're right there Merv it never ceases to amaze me that so many Americans seem to think everyone in the UK lives in London, I wouldn't say my American geography is that great but I've got a good idea where each state is.
Many years ago I had someone ask me if I knew Princess Diana - she was being serious it just about says it all

Is it the time to tell American stories … one of mine would be ….
During a coaching tour of the Canadian Rockies a lady from the US of A asked " What do they do with the bears at night ?"

I reported on an event she was at so I was less than 10 feet from her. And I interviewed her Dad. Does that count?Dancing Queen wrote: ↑25 Jul 2019, 21:23Many years ago I had someone ask me if I knew Princess Diana
Of course it doesn't help that Cunard market the port as London (Southampton)!Dancing Queen wrote: ↑25 Jul 2019, 21:23It never ceases to amaze me that so many Americans seem to think everyone in the UK lives in London

Yep. Only a matter of time before it's London (Manchester)!
