Health certificate

#1

Post by Happydays »

Has anyone else seen the video on line that is showing a copy of the health certificate that Celebrity and Royal Caribbean are saying future passengers over 70yr old shall have to get their Dr to sign?

It lists many conditions that if you have any of them you will be refused being able to cruise. Diabetes and cancer being just two of them. It doesn't matter if you're in remission or can control the diabetes, actually one of the videos when he phoned the cruise company he was told it applied to all passengers regardless of age.

Luckily for the we are in good health regarding this form.

I thought I had read on another forum that this was a spoof letter, and RCI have denied it?

I hope you're right, certainly looks convincing. There were a few different people's videos.

Be suspicious of anything you see online until verified.
80% of what you read is rubbish and the other 30% is not necessarily correct.

I have just had a look and it seems it is just a certificate from the doctor to say you are physically fit to travel. Whether this is a consequence of people boarding ships who are clearly not fit I don't know but it looks like they are tightening up their procedures. I feel sure there must be those who go on a cruise who clearly are not well enough and can create problems later on.
This is the form I found.

It looks legit to me and l can't think why anyone would want to post such a spoof certificate?

As Foxy has said it just looks like a Doctor's fit to travel conformation certificate.

I read on another forum that American doctors are refusing to sign this type of certificate for fear of being sued and I think that British doctors will probably follow their example.

I had to pay £30 for a Doctor's letter x 2 to say that we weren't going to any Port in Brazil that was a danger regarding Yellow Fever .... P&O wouldn't allow us to board until we had the letter, they insisted on it yet they were driving the Ship into only safe from Yellow fever Ports ... I can only assume that it was either a money making scheme or to keep the Uruguayans happy at Montevideo. :silent:

Either way it is a waste of time in the current climate. All it says in this context is you didn't have obvious symptoms of Covid yesterday. Means nothing tomorrow.

I may be wrong, but I am sure I read somewhere (I know, never believe everything you read) that the medical people rejected it in case of litigation.
Same as what Maureen has said.
