Cost of excursions
P & O do seem a bit shy of advertising prices generally I feel, I have to dig to find out, can anyone please advise the "typical" cost of an excursion onshore ? I appreciate costs will vary, but just to give me a general idea. Similarly, I can't see prices for spa treatments either...wifey might want to have her knees ironed, or whatever they do in there......it will just help me budget.

Re: Cost of excursions
Excursions do vary quite a lot depending on what/where they are doing/going but I would say, currently, that you are looking at around £35 for a half day and £50 for a full day.
Cannot help with the spa as have no experience of it.

Re: Cost of excursions
As David says prices vary depending on excursions and can often be allot higher than Davids quotes. Personally I feel they are too expensive. But do remember that if a P&O excursion is late getting back to the ship the ship will wait, where as if you do your own thing and return late be prepared to see the ship disappear over the horizon. It is then your responsibility to make arrangement to either meet the ship at the next port of call or get home.
Having said that, as you do more cruises and perhaps visit the same places you may feel confident of doing your own thing excursion wise and saving money at the same time. Just be aware of the above though. I have actually seen it happen, people running for the ship but being too late as it has already left its berth.

Spa prices vary too depending on treatment and duration. Watch out for special offers, usually on port days when the spa is quieter as demand is lower.

Re: Cost of excursions
On Spa prices be aware that there is an automatic gratuity, of I believe 15%, added to the quoted price as well, and the basic prices are quite high, the last time my wife had her hair done in the Spa a simple shampoo and set was £75 with tip.

Re: Cost of excursions
Try posting an enquiry about the price of excursions in one, or all, of the latest Cruise Reports as the authors of same may not have read this Topic.
ps the prices on our recent Fred cruise ranged between £70 and £145

I used spa for blow dry in October and it cost £37 for "average length" hair. They usually ask if its ok to add 10% tip but you could refuse!

Re: Cost of excursions
We have been looking at the excursions for our Caribbean cruise in February and they seem to be cheapest one is £36pp for 3 hour trip to £74pp for a 7hour trip and all prices in between! Some are a lot more, depending on what you want to do. I am looking at a few catamaran one's for snorkelling, that part is for my husband I don't get in the water (not a confident swimmer) but I do like the rum punch

I also looked up the price of spa treatments and a 50 minute head, back and head massage is £72. I have never had one just looked it up for you. I only get a manicure and shellac nail polish when I first get on board so my hands look nice for the cruise that costs £30 with a 10% tip which I think is worth it.
PS if you want any other spa prices I could look them up to give you an idea of the cost

Re: Cost of excursions
when your trips appear on the personaliser, they will have the prices.
We use the excursion list to double check what's worth seeing, then check the maps. If it is possible to diy, we will - generally those within a shortish distance

Re: Cost of excursions
Try looking at the likes of Cruising Excursions or viator. It will give you an idea of prices (but expect to pay about 20-50% more on the ship).
On our last Med cruise we used cruising excursions and were very impressed. They have some expensive personalised tours but also some that are virtually identical to those offered by the the ship: same sort of buses; qualified tour guides; same stops and views; guarantee to get you back to the ship; about two thirds of the price. We have also used viator and had no complaints.

Interesting, but how does this operate if you have missed ports, Ken?

Hi OBF, it looks like they either refund or can arrange an alternative at your actual portoldbluefox wrote: ↑20 Nov 2017, 08:41Interesting, but how does this operate if you have missed ports, Ken?

I am not so sure about viator, we have mainly used them on land based holidays.
