If that's true the techies need to look at the software. My car has a low fuel alarm too but it doesn't automatically turn off the engine in the middle of the motorway!

Quite true Merv but it does seem that software "safeguards" are being built into most things nowadays, first reports from the Boeing 737max crashes seem to suggest it was a software warning that was not correctly identified by the pilots.
