Madeira - Restaurant Recommendation

#1

Post by cornmillgirl »

Anyone visiting Madeira must visit Olives Restaurant https://m.facebook.com/olivesfunchal

It's in an art deco style kind of place with a lovely terrace to sit out when the weather is sunny. Luis chef and owner is a really friendly guy and for any vegetarians there is is excellent menu. Plenty fish and meat options too.

We had a great lunch but read the Tripadvisor reviews for more info.

Best restaurant in Funchal, in our opinion, is Cris's. Fab.

Thank you for the recommendation. We are in Madeira in Wednesday, so may well give it a try. As a veggie I am always glad to hear of somewhere that actually offers me a CHOICE!

Hi Gill

If you do there is lots of choice a separate full vegetarian and vegan menu. If you speak to Luis the chef/owner tell him Janet the vegan who dined there last week told you about it. We could not sit outside on the terrace which is three flights up as it was too windy but it has views over the front. The building is a little quirky in an art deco building and you get the lift to reach Olives at the top. My husband raved about his tuna mains and I loved my vegan options.

Yes, very much, and it's great to see photographs of the completed dishes.

That's no problem, I do get funny looks when out dining, as people must think I'm a bit nerdy keep taking
photos, but they don't know I write blog. Does help to see piccies though (:-)
