Dublin
Just starting to think about what to do on our little jolly round Britain in July but I am stumped at Dublin. We have done enough wandering round the city, had a river trip and a charabanc tour so if anyone has any ideas/suggestions, please....
Don't really want to go to the Guinness factory !
Thanks

Re: Dublin
we had a couple of days in Dublin a year or 2 ago.
we did:
St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublinia, then along the river, treating ourselves to huge ice creams;
next day:
Natural History Museum (a real old fashioned museum - we loved it!) and other sights thereabouts ending with the 'Little Museum of Dublin'

Re: Dublin
Go to jail, don't pass ' Go ' nor collect £200 etc ..... Kilmainham-ish to be precise.
or ...
Go by DART ( train ) to Bray, a seaside resort not too many miles down the coast ... get out and walk about in Dunleary-ish as well maybe.

Else get one of the Dublin Bus Tours from Connelly Street and head off to Malahide Castle & Howth.

We purchased the tickets in advance and got a 20% discount.

Re: Dublin
Thanks - we have done the "Dun-leary" bit as we tendered in to there on our first visit. Much better than the port in Dublin itself. Thanks to you and Wolfie - will definitely look at HowthManoverboard wrote: ↑15 May 2017, 14:05Go to jail, don't pass ' Go ' nor collect £200 etc ..... Kilmainham-ish to be precise.

Re: Dublin
Hi, I am new on here...
Only been to Dublin once for a weekend and loved it... Loved Temple Bar... We ate both evenings at a little place down there called 'From Mexico to Rome..' I'm sure that was what it was called, more or less opposite the original Temple Bar.
The food and service was so good the first night that we returned the second night.
We all (3 couples) enjoyed our visit to the Guiness Factory.

Re: Dublin
We are also going in July to Dublin but never having been before we are going to Trinity College and The Book of Kells in the morning and then hoping to visit Temple Bar and find some real Irish music and atmosphere.
Enjoy your day qb.

Re: Dublin
Some great ideas and after due consideration, we are thinking of catching the train to Howth. If there a shuttle from the ship these days and does it drop you anywhere near the station ?
Em - it is my birthday on the day we are in Belfast so I am thinking a day on board then would be a good idea !

Re: Dublin
The station is a tidy walk from the drop off point, you will need a map or directions.
ps ... the train to the charming Victorian Seaside town of Bray is a better idea than Howth as their station is but a short walk to the sea / prom / shops etc.
pps ... Stopping onboard is a rubbish idea, imo, as there is so much to do.
ppps .... Try a Boxty ( Irish potato pancake ) at Gallaher's in the TB area perhaps ?
