Went to see this the other night. A bit slow moving in places with some curious lingering camera shots but overall it was a fantastic movie.
Chiwetel Ejiofor played the lead role (Solomon Northup) splendidly (very different from his role in Kinky Boots ).
As soon as I came home I found a download of Solomon Northup's book and have added it to the reading list.

Just been to see it. Some incredibly good performances but not what you might call enjoyable - very reminiscent of "Roots" but maybe even more harrowing. Not for the fainthearted.

Everybody was very quiet when they left the cinema. Don't go if you're looking for the feel good factor. However it is a very powerful and moving film.
