In four parts, covering a year's worth of seasons, the life of a family of sheep hill farmers in Yorkshire (the family looks familiar, so think they've been in something before). They have nine children (how they found the time to do that, I have no idea). A very hard life, but a delightful family and a joy to watch. The children seem to have almost complete freedom to roam - doubtless Social Services are banging on their door as I type.

Thank you, I may download an episode.

I am thinking / hoping that they are living the life of folk in the early 20th century rather than with all todays mod cons.

Will let you know what we think of it.

Have managed to schedule the recording of the remaining episodes but cannot locate the first one.

Maybe it will become available in the next 24hrs, meanwhile is it being repeated ?

Many thanks  but sadly it is not displayed in one's Electronic Guide nor indeed in one's Daily Mail TV Supplement.

However I have just located it within one's ' Chan 5 Catch Up ', a facility which is clearly something I do not use.

It is being Downloaded at this very moment ….

Watched it on catch up earlier and I have now stopped whinging about the miserable windy, rainy weather we are currently getting on the Island. However, I am still whinging about the leaks in the conservatory which are happening at the moment. I agree with anniec about the family - delightful.

A lovely programme. I couldn't help thinking what a wonderful childhood those children were getting. Not much evidence of material things but plenty of love and life skills.

An absolute contrast to the ' snowflakes ' of today …

A caring sharing family who have nothing yet have everything. Loved the 6 year old lad being taught by his 14 year old brother to use a rasp file to make his Mum a Christmas present. They all had their jobs and did them with a smile on their little faces … wonderful.

Let us hope Social Services and / or H&S don't get wind of what's going on.

Thanks ' Anniec ', loved it

I'm so pleased you all enjoyed it - there's so little worth watching on TV that when something like this comes up it's worth sharing.

I assume you've all seen the Yorkshire Vet?

The Yorkshire Vet is another lovely programme and such a shame the latest series has ended. Peter has a wonderful wit and we do so enjoy watching the exploits of Jean and her husband. She's a proper character and there are too few of them around nowadays although I'm not rightly sure I'd be wanting to eat any of her cakes. They tend to be, shall we say, rather rustic in nature!!
I felt really sorry when they had to get rid of their cows although it was amusing in the last episode when she found out her cat was not a tom cat at all and quick as a flash it was renamed Blossom!!

We used to pick up eggs at a local farm and one Christmas the farmer's wife put out some Xmas cakes laced with brandy so we bought one to try. She was always a busy soul and would be seen clearing out the cattle sheds, mucking out the chickens and frequently wiping her hands on her poo stained overalls … we really enjoyed the cake but couldn't shake an unwanted image of her making them.

Just a quick reminder that this is on tonight, 8pm, Channel 5. A wonderful antidote to Brexit!

And, nearly a year later, there's a new series starting tonight, 8pm, on Channel 5.
