Hi all - is anyone else going on this cruise? We are hoping to book a 2 day tour of St Petersburg with an independent company - is anyone else interested in joining us?

Hi, we are booked on this cruise and have booked the P & O trips for St Petersburg. This is not what we usually do, we are more than happy to do our own thing unless there is somewhere that looks particularly complex such as St Petersburg. We are not booking any other tours as we always feel that they are very expensive, and if you do a bit of research on the Internet before you go it is possible to find out a lot about each port and the area. Try http://www.whatsinport.com for some useful information.
By chance after we had booked we were at supper at a friend's home and mentioned we had just booked, only to discover that two other couples, good friends of ours, had also booked! P & O have been very helpful in changing one couple's dining time to second sitting and arranging for the six of us to have a table to ourselves. This will have saved two other people from having to listen to all our gossip and in jokes!
We have not cruised on Arcadia before, so we are quite glad to see the reviews on here seem positive on the whole. Only just over four weeks to go - excitement mounting!

Thanks for the info - just under a week to go and getting very excited. We have found some more cruisers who are going on the same 2 day independant tour of St Petersburg with us - we are using Alla tours - they have a good write up so fingers crossed. I too have done loads of research and we are doing most ports independantly with the exception of a couple of interesting trips that would be difficult to organise ourselves. If you are interested a few of us are meeting up on our first sea day at 12 noon in the crows nest to get to 'meet and greet' each other. You are more than welcome to join us.
