Baltic Part 2

Post by CaroleF »

Greetings from a very wet Stockholm. We have had fantastic weather up to now, particularly in St. Petersburg - very warm and sunny all our stay. Never been to Russia before and it was quite something - not a very warm welcome from the immigration women but all went very smoothly. Saw a huge number of weddings on Saturday - well brides and their guests having photos taken in various parts of the city. Went to the ballet which was fantastic, didn't enjoy the gridlocked traffic on the way back to the ship at 11pm, far worse than London! You can't see everything in two days but we did our best.

Unfortunately, in Tallin, John had to go to see an eye consultant. His eyes had been troubling him and he saw the dr on board who was lovely, but the drops she gave him did no good so she arranged for him to see a consultant on arrival in Tallin. The port agent collected him in a taxi and took him to a private clinic, then accompanied him back to the ship. The drops and ointment the consultant gave him seem to be working now thank goodness - a corneal infection - not easy to put drops in every two hours, 7 times a day when on tours in St. P. However, much better now, but he had to wear sun glasses quite a lot as the least little bit of bright light hurt.

Really enjoying Adonia, fantastic food - plated meals a great success we think. Extra veg if anyone wants it. John thinks it's the best food we have had in the main restaurant on any ship. Everyobne seems to be enjoying tyhe cruise, apart from the occasinal moaner - sorry about spelling but trying to type quyickly. Will post a review on return.

Pleased to hear you are enjoying Adonia Carole.

Immigration at St Petersburgh never do seem to be a happy bunch, In fact you don't seem to get much by way of smiles from anyone in Russia. Perhaps it's not part of their culture.

Sorry to hear about John's eye. Hope he's a lot better by now.

Glad you enjoyed the Kiel Canal which we thought was absolutely wonderful, even if it was raining when we went through.
