P & O 'Special Announcements' 26/10/2016
I've just seen this tweet from P&O
We'll be bringing you special announcements about a variety of things later, follow us as we announce these live tonight!
So, brace yourself for news..... (and rarely news we want to hear!)
I noticed a post saying it'd been quiet recently, so this might give us something to talk about.
Perhaps they are launching the new 'loyalty scheme'

Please don't let it be about them introducing a fuel supplement because we have just booked another cruise and we paid Select fare which is something we rarely do.

I doubt that's something P&O would advertise, it has to be something that passengers will find interesting.Kenmo1 wrote:Please don't let it be about them introducing a fuel supplement because we have just booked another cruise and we paid Select fare which is something we rarely do.

No, you are right towny. I expect they will sneak it in when no one is looking.towny44 wrote:I doubt that's something P&O would advertise, it has to be something that passengers will find interesting.Kenmo1 wrote:Please don't let it be about them introducing a fuel supplement because we have just booked another cruise and we paid Select fare which is something we rarely do.

Think I heard swimming lessons mentioned but the sound was poor so I may have imagined it - anyway I got bored as it just seemed a load of hype over nothing.Meg 50 wrote:it is still carrying on.... but I missed the beginning.

There appears to be a new page on the pocruises website giving a few more details of the new ship. The main one is a glass domed area, on the top decks I assume, which will be a new pool, entertainment and dining area, but no pictures of what it might look like, but will hold an arial and aqua show, sounds similar to Oasis.

Can't believe that I have just wasted thirty minutes of my life on finding out that there will be children's swimming lessons, a new chocolate pudding on gala night and a couple of new shows.

I'm a bit worried about Stephen - he has gone very quiet. Do you think he held his breath for too long.Stephen wrote:I'm still waiting with baited breath

Well, that was a load of fuss over not much ast all!
The other thing I noticed is that the new ship will be named by the passengers. But no details on how it will be done

It does, however, seem that they have learned lessons from the shortcomings of Britannia, and are not making the same mistakes twice.

Well it was such "roaring success" that the video was taken down within a couple of hours.
For anyone fortunate enough to have missed it - it was an object lesson on how to do a live feed badly. It would have helped if those who were being interviewed, and were sober enough, knew what they were talking about.
One guy, cannot remember his name, was saying that shows operate around dining times - the first sitting being at 19:00 to 20:30 and the second at 20:00!!

Technology is wonderful.
The muppets who use it are not
I neither Twit or Facebook but it appears that I didn't miss too much

I watched about two minutes of the video - poor sound quality and so dark I gave up so thank you David for sticking it out but can't say I'm impressed with what I've heard so far - it's not like P&O to be so poor with technology

It makes one wonder how an organisation such as P&O can get it so wrong - not the best of adverts is it?

From Davids report as part of his life flashed away,
not many saw it/could not get it. I have a feeling the media company may have embarrassed P&O big time

Re: P & O 'Special Announcements' 26/10/2016
From an earlier release.
This is Paul Ludlow, P&O Cruises SVP, we are delighted to announce that P&O Cruises is to build a next-generation cruise ship for delivery in 2020. It will be the largest cruise ship to be built specifically for British guests.
The new ship will exceed 180,000 gross tons and will accommodate approximately 5,200 guests (lower berths). Through an innovative use of space, the ship will offer an extensive range of dining, entertainment and relaxing features.
So, 5200 in lower berths, add another 1000 as a conservative estimate for Pullmans, sofa settees and you have 6200 passengers. That would make a good Tender Port fun. By the time you get off the ship it would have sailed.
