Where to barney.
Oh, only yet another Med cruise Stephen.

What attracted was that this one has an overnight in Barcelona, which is our favourite city.
We'll hit the town for the evening. :D
That, plus Naples as I've always fancied the Amalfi trip and Cagliari which we've not been to before … and NO Lisbon
Booked a D deck on Ventura, which we also like very much.

I know that quite a few don't like Ventura, but we do.
Nothing I can put my finger on, I just like the vibe of it.
Last time we were on her, we met some really lovely people, so hoping for the same.
To be absolutely honest, I don't have a downer on any of the P&O ships but if I had to pick an absolute favourite, I'd go for Aurora.
Empty vessels .. and all that

We have just renewed our annual travel insurance but only for Europe this year. However as we are considering now up to winter 21/22 with all those Caribbean temptations I thought I would just check how much the premium would have been for Caribbean, and it would be 4.5 times higher, Gulp, I guess we will be staying this side of the pond.

Same here.

We are doing the med next year on Azura.

Having looked on CruiseKings again for the date we are interested in I'm not inspired at all at what's on offer with P &O. May look else where.

I have to admit that P&O itineraries are looking less ans less interesting each year.

There is only a couple of cruises that interested us this year.

It is obvious that P&O's target market is the "new" cruiser who has not been to many places so can pick and choose, but for anyone who has done even a modest amount of cruising it is very repetitive. Having said that there are only so many places that a ship can get to in a couple of weeks.

Our next P&O is likely to be 2022 Fjords with daughter and grandchildren. I'd previously priced it on Azura or Ventura and was a bit put out that the only choice in 2020 and 2021 was Iona and I guess that may continue with her or her sister in 2022. Norwegians are becoming more and more environmentally conscious so I guess that is why they're sending the greenest ship that way. However having priced the Iona option for the equivalent cruise in 2021 it's more than £1000 cheaper for the three of us, so that may after all be a very attractive option in 2022.

I've been looking at a Princess cruise round the UK for July 2021 which has a good itinerary. A shame P&O couldn't have done similar. Never done a Princess cruise so can't compare with P&O.

I agree Lindsey. We have 2 future cruise deposits (2 x £75) on hold with Princess which we paid when we were on Sapphire Princess last year. We have to book something by October 2020 and we will get extra OBC but we are finding their prices high at the moment for the ones we are interested in for 2021. We are sorted for 2020 with PO. Princess will refund the money if we don't book anything so we won't lose out. I'm wondering if the prices are so high at present particularly for British Isles cruises because we are an attractive option to Americans because of the pound against the dollar.

I've just looked through the PO book again but still nothing jumping out at me so no bookings for 2021 (yet).

For Princess cruises booking early is a non starter, if you don't need a specific cabin it's best to wait until at least 6 months before to book. And with Princess you are always able to specify the cabin you want, although if the cruise is very popular you may not get your favourite dining option and cabin choice could be limited.

Problem though John in school holidays - suitable cabins go very quickly - just looked at August 2021 and like Stephen I nearly passed out!!! An inside cabin with single supplement on a 14 night cruise was just over £3500 and an ocean view £5500 plus flights on top  Add on the excursions and tips which are always more expensive on Princess and we are talking silly money - no way

I was assuming that Stephen would want a term time cruise, but I accept that school holiday cruises will always command a high premium.
