Online Check-in

#1

Post by david63 »

You cannot make this up.

For our cruise next week I received an email last night saying that I could check-in online - great I thought.

So go to enter the details which start off with confirming passport numbers - no go because I have 10 years 9 months on my passport. I then try Mrs63's passport that has 10 years 6months on it and it is accepted :? Try mine again and it is accepted :? :?

So next step is to enter the credit card details - all entered click Save and get a message saying that there are "technical" problems try again later. Tried again multiple times later (as instructed) and same response.

Next line of attack phone P&O - not heard of this problem so goes off to ask somebody and apparently I cannot do online check-in because ....

wait for it ...

I booked the cruise too early :o :o

Why on earth did they have to “upgrade” to this totally awful system?

There are probably some technical reasons why - but one major reason is that without online check-in there is no way that the current operation can handle Iona's check-in.

Why didn't they just ask RCI if they could cut and paste their system?

I wouldn't advise that given our farcical experience with Celebrity.

i had similar problems trying to pay my balance the other week. kept inputting my card details and getting frozen out the minute I hit submit. I phoned p&o in the end and paid on the phone she assured me I hadn't paid three times before! but I await my card statement with dread.
regards gilly.

It would appear the situation has changed from this morning as I can now login. Whether this is just a lucky one off who knows

Online check-in, at the moment, is nothing to do with the P&O account nor the My Cruises - it is a stand alone system.
