I love the sail away parties but it narks me that we haven't got a proper anthem for England, "God save the queen " ? she is monarch of the Commonwealth not just England, even a song about building Jerusalem in England sounds alien to me.

Union Jack ?, a good percentage of Scots,Welsh and Northern Irish would like to break away from us so that leaves the St. Georges Cross and he wasn't even English.

When you sail from Port Everglades you are watched from a couple of webcams. If you put a towel or a flag over the balcony rail you are likely to get focussed on and I have to admit to flying a Union Jack which successfully caught the cameras attention and was viewed by family back home.

The inlaws were on a cruise a few years back when there was a family on board bragging about how they screwed the benefits system to pay for their cruises. Fortunately, the scroungers were put off at the next port of call.

I don't mind being a drain on the economy now I get my state pension. I've paid enough into the system over the years, and continue to do so in tax on my company pension. I'll have to live to about 150 before I'm a nett beneficiary.

If we lived in the U.S.A. or some countries in Europe we would have a better pension but our scheme is raped by the scroungers who fraud the benefits system.

I steer clear of it, but many thoroughly enjoy it. Friends new to P&O who I would have thought it a little too low brow for them found it extremely enjoyable.

We like to go to the odd sailaway and as some have said it is just a bit of fun. I agree what Gill W said , people should not over analyse it too much .
I too draw the state pension but do not have a problem with that, what with good old DK slogging away out there to keep it topped up.
