Just back from another lovely couple of weeks on Azura.
Flights on time both ways and the entire travel experience was pretty seamless.
Azura is starting to look a bit shabby around the edges, but then aren’t we all.
She still has a great atmosphere and the vast majority of the staff are top notch.
We were very lucky with the weather.
Low to mid 20’s
We’ve rebooked for January next year to get some post Xmas sunshine
We ate in all of the special restaurants and the mdr.
Another holiday with not a single visit to the buffet.

We certainly came back packing a little more timber than when we sailed, but we both do daily Pilates so do our best to keep in shape.
All in all, a few pounds on but nothing to worry about.
My theory is, a decent breakfast, skip lunch and then ….. fill yer boots

I’m normally pretty disciplined during the day but not so much in the evening.
One night in the mdr, I had starter, soup, main, pudding and then cheese and biscuits, washed down with a bottle of Malbec.
I turned into a food zombie and was so uncomfortable that we missed the Barbra Streisand looky likey because I went to lie down

My daily cruise fail is going to the buffet for breakfast determined to have a light continental but losing my will power at the full English counter. I can have Weetabix at home!

The first few days it’s the full English then I say I think I’ll have just some cereal and toast tomorrow. That goes out the window as soon as I smell the cooked breakfast. Mind you it’s the only time I have fry up’s so I make the most of it.

It’s akin to a rugby scrum and we didn’t visit in the entire fortnight.
Our breakfast was either mdr or room service.
If room service, just a bowl of cereal and a croissant.
If mdr, good intentions on arrival …………..

Not that we have been on a cruise for a long time but when we did cruising, we treated all dining experiences (including breakfast) as a treat, so expected to be waited on hand and foot.

Thank gawd my wife now understands her purpose in life

We are not early risers either but can easily make 10.00 on sea days and sometimes 9.00 on port days.
We always have a C deck balcony on Azura and Ventura and it’s often nice to eat breakfast al fresco.
I got slightly chastised by the room service delivery steward on this cruise when he asked why I didn’t put the request out on the door the night before rather than phoning it through.
I replied that I’m not that organised.
The one time that we did, it was missed because it was too late.
Has to be out by 10.30 pm apparently.
We didn’t get in until after midnight.

I prefer to choose what I want and how much I want and if you go to the buffet later on it is much quieter and more civilised. The MDR is fine by way of a change and Mrs likes it but I prefer to choose for myself.

Fortunately we both prefer the buffet, and normally arrive late enough to avoid the main crush.

The last time we tried the MDR the service was so slow we nearly gave up.

On Arvia we found the buffet more civilised and relaxed than the mayhem in the MDR. You just needed to choose your time and where to sit.

Trying Arvia in September.
May give the buffet a try to see how it works but there seems quite a few alternatives.
The Azura one is far too small for the size of the ship.

Indeed. I was quite impressed by the variety of venues on offer although some are quite popular and do get busy at certain times of the day.
There is a series of Arvia videos by this couple (One Couples Adventure) which we found interesting, helpful and entertaining so might be worth having a look.
