New Cruiser with a young child

#1

Post by Frank Manning »

We became friends with a really nice girl in the photography dept on Aurora about 12 years ago, and we have remained friends via Facebook. She now has a lovely 6 year old daughter and she wants to take her on a cruise. Last night she asked us what was the best way to book, direct with P&O or via a TA. Also do we have any advice for a first time aboard with a child. Sadly we havent been with P&O since 2015 because we have both had health problems, we would like to help her, and wondered if anyone could offer up to date advice please? I believe that Aurora and Arcadia are adults only and though she doesnt want to go on a big ship it is Iona that she has in mind. Would appreciate any advice, because as I said she is a really nice girl.

A lot will depend on where she wants to go and when as to which ship - you are right that Aurora and Arcadia are both adult only so they will be ruled out. Perhaps look at Britannia a fairly modern ship and not quite as big as Iona but, in my opinion, better than Ventura and Azura.

As for booking you will get both via a TA and direct as answers - both are right. Personally after having a bad experience with a specialist cruise TA some years ago I will only ever book direct with whatever cruise line I an travelling with.
