Here's an old subject from 2013 about cruise numbers on the up. So I brought it a bit more up to date.

cruise passenger numbers up

British ports will wave off 1 million cruise passengers in 2013. In 2012 saw a 10 per cent increase with 962.000 cruise passengers.
The amount of tourist passengers coming ashore was 723.000 an increase of 11 per cent .
The above numbers are from the Passenger Shipping Association.
Will you be one of the 1 million, count me and my partner as part of that number.

The post refers to British ports in 2012.
One port you may have heard of, posted their figures for 2023, the port of cause is Southampton.
About 2.+ million passengers passed through the port and something like 460 cruise ship movements. The people of Southampton have certainly noticed the growth with traffic especially when a few mega ships are loading and discharging passengers.
Are we nearing saturation point soon ? How much more will cruising grow, there is already talk of cruise only, ie, the ship is the destination.
As ships move to bigger and bigger, will more cruise ports refuse to take them , and restrict entry to ships of 2/3000 passengers.
Who knows what the future of cruising holds.
Don't worry, be happy

Who knows Ray.
I’ve been reading about American lines over booking and bumping passengers off a few days before travel.
Those on a guarantee cabin basis.
I know airlines have done this for years but cruise holidays
Empty vessels .. and all that

Not the way to go about getting a good reputation or repeat business.
