Re: Last One to Post Wins
Well I've had a terrible morning just before we got home a neighbours dog attack my one very unexpected it managed to get hold of her ear (cocker spaniel) at held fast (I thought at one point she was going to loose her ear!) The poor man who doesn't keep good health got knocked over, it was awful.
When we managed to get the dogs apart there was blood coming from her ear, I got her inside and cleaned it with antiseptic. I took her to the vet as I was worried that it could get infected. He examined her and he cleaned a bit more and said she was very lucky he didn't think she would need stitches only antibiotic injection and tablets have to leave her ear alone no more cleaning and take her back next week to make sure its healing properly most of the damage is inside the ear.
I feel sorry for the owners of the dog as they were are both very upset as well. When I came home I let them know what the vet said, they told me that they have been in touch with the rescue centre where they got the dog to let them know what had happened as it's happened before but the other dog didn't need treatment. As I said it's a sad thing to happen as when the dog is inside it's lovely and friendly. It just happened so fast and unexpectedly no one could do anything.
They have said they will pay for the vets bill.

Not good Happydays. It sounds like the owner of the other dog cannot manage it and really needs to go to a new owner or back to the rescues centre, for the owners own health and the dogs.

Press reports say that Madeira has banned cruise ship stops, at least until the end of March, can you confirm Merv?Mervyn and Trish wrote: β11 Mar 2020, 16:41I'm throwing all my clothes away and filling my cases with toilet rolls when we return from Madeira. No shortage here.

That is indeed what is being reported in a local blog on the island. There are none due in until Saturday so we'll know for sure then. Also additional measures at the airport though it was normal when we arrived on Monday.
So far Madeira has no cases. Five have been tested with the first four negative and one result awaited. I guess they're trying to keep it that way.
There was an interesting report locally of a couple from Denmark who were ordered to self isolate at home and decided instead to come here on holiday. It seems the medical.authorities co operated and they were immediately quarantined on arrival!

Good for the medical authorities, as for the Danes, serves them right. Only themselves to blame.

We're having a routine BIG SHOP delivery today from Sainsbugs. Surprisingly, given the Coronavirus panic buying, everything bar two items will be delivered. These are a pack of Bird's Eye frozen Petits Pois plus an 18 pack of 3 ply Toilet Rolls.

The story gets more amazing. Apparently they were in isolation because their son is in hospital with the virus. Not only did they breach the rules but they went on holiday while their son was sick with a potentially fatal illness. Arrogant and uncaring. Not only are they in quarantine but it seems the Madeiran authorities are considering legal action against them. Serves them right. Looks like our stay in Madeira will end prematurely. The authorities have said all new arrivals have to go into quarantine for 14 days so airlines are stopping bringing people out. Jet2 have messaged us to say our original flight home on 30th is suspended and will arrange alternative flight by 21st at the latest.
