That should be standard rules, if not phone the Bank's Fraud Department using the number on the statement but phone a friend first to ensure you have a clean line.

I agree which is why I'm baffled because at no time has that card been used for an on -line or phone transaction or ever been in a third party's possession.Manoverboard wrote: ↑04 Aug 2021, 12:28Highly unlikely.
The only way ( that I am aware of ) anybody could know the three numbers is if they were told or the numbers had been seen. Members of staff have no reason to ask nor do they have any authorised access to such information on the databases, the usual telephone Banking type protection is in the form of a six numbered password.

That would be helpful, thanks. I don’t think we need to involve Facecloth though.

Are the security codes the same on both your cards Merv?Mervyn and Trish wrote: ↑04 Aug 2021, 14:02

No. The main number is different too. The only thing in common is the joint account.towny44 wrote: ↑04 Aug 2021, 15:30Are the security codes the same on both your cards Merv?Mervyn and Trish wrote: ↑04 Aug 2021, 14:02

Out of interest how long ago was the compromised card issued, and has it ever been used ?

June 2019 and probably never, definitely not since March 2020. Trish only ever used it to pay when she shopped in Aldi as they don't take credit cards, and she hasn't done that since the pandemic started and we began getting shopping delivered.
The most likely scenario is it got scanned when she was out shopping on Monday at a local centre, as that's when the attempted transactions were made. But as it was never out of her purse/bag I remain baffled as to how they got the three numbers. Or maybe some on-line traders aren't picky about asking for those.

Re: Last One to Post Wins
One possibility is that because the card hasn't been used or at best not been used for a considerable period it was automatically flagged up and blocked by the Card Issuer. This would probably have happened even if Trish had tried to use it.
I reckon that the card was blocked at the entry point of the account number and that the remaining security features were not ratified because the card was blocked and not registered with the device being used for the transaction. The 3 magic figures on the back are therefore a red herring in this scenario.

Any way got a new one now. So the number is &%$£ )("£$ @~:; &^%$, the PIN is <>?@ and the 3 numbers are %$%.

Ok Pop Pickers my breakfast buddy's wife has to do a shift sticking needles in people's arms tomorrow so he is on Dad duty. So we're not on the wireless. Which means I can have a lie in and so can you. Lucky devils.

Closing Ceremony today. It's been a very different Olympics but I've enjoyed it. The highlights anyway.

Re: Last One to Post Wins
Noticeable how down the British team looked as they entered the closing ceremony stadium. Everyone else was all smiles and dancing around, we looked liked we just had all our medals taken from us and were attending a funeral.

They were the ones who lost the lottery to attend while the winners were partying.
