Just been to have my hair cut, the consensus there was that with the new low strength omicron, we should just get back to normal and let it burn itself out.

I read recently that historically pandemics have taken 3 years to burn themselves out, essentially when herd immunity is achieved. That is of course without the modern medical interventions we have. This one is heading the same way acientists suggest. So it seems that lockdowns and vaccinations have saved lives and spread the load on the NHS but actually done little or nothing to actually defeat the virus.

Very true. That's the trade off. Lives or cash. But they were never going to stop the pandemic.towny44 wrote: ↑05 Jan 2022, 19:20But they have made a damned big hole in the countries finances.Mervyn and Trish wrote: ↑05 Jan 2022, 16:23I read recently that historically pandemics have taken 3 years to burn themselves out, essentially when herd immunity is achieved. It was a get together of half a dozen or so sensible old buggers from a local art group that Mobietta belongs to plus their spouses. The pub sorted us out our very own well spaced spacious room and nobody at all was wearing a mask at any time. An illustration of Darzet trust or crass stupidity ... either way it seems that we were all desperate for a couple of hours of ' normality '.Mervyn and Trish wrote: ↑05 Jan 2022, 14:00Hope you've got your mask and hazmat suit on.Manoverboard wrote: ↑05 Jan 2022, 12:04Going t' pub for lunch shortly but there's still frost on the car

You won’t need flowers where your heading. Double check the walls tomorrow morning in case they’ve closed in and turned to pine over night

My brother and his wife went to a wedding recently. Half the guests subsequently tested positive for Covid, they fortunately not among them. Not sure whether that proves Covid is dangerous, or marriage is!Manoverboard wrote: ↑06 Jan 2022, 09:51It was a get together of half a dozen or so sensible old buggers from a local art group that Mobietta belongs to plus their spouses.
