MADEIRA
Here I am in Madeira. Our room overlooks the Harbour. A very busy today it is in the Port today. We have Silver Cloud , Albatros , (a German No Frills Line apparently,) and Aurora is just manoeuvring into her berth. it is 8.30am and 18C.
Much work is being done on the harbour area and the sea front. For those of you who know Funchal, all those grotty boat-cafés have been removed and they are in the throws of a massive construction of a new marina. Also the old storm water-spill ways are being enlarged and improved following the floods of a couple of years ago...... hopefully, to reduce the chance of that sort of disaster happening again.
Off to breakfast now and a full day of relaxation

Re: MADEIRA
I'm green with envy jay-ell71 but it does sound lovely (and warm). It's a bright autumn morning up here in Cumbria but nowhere near that warm.
Hope you have a wonderful holiday and thanks for sharing your news about Madeira. Off to have a look on Aurora's webcam.

Glad to hear that you are still enjoying yourselves.
Not that you want to know, but it's overcast and cold here

Hi M & T.... we are in the Cliff Bay. today there are three ships in again. Columbus 2, Balmoral and an Aida.
We have had lovely weather since we arrived on tues, in fact the sky has been clear blue for two days! with a light breeze, no clouds at all. Oh! we are exhausted by all the relaxation and the wine.

Very nice too. We've not stayed there but have had afternoon tea in the garden once or twice. We stay at one or other of the Pestana hotels when we go because we have some timeshare weeks there. Feels like our second home.

Re: MADEIRA
We are sure this is our second home! This is our seventh stay here. We have been coming here every year for seven years. This morning we walked down to town and had coffee and egg custard tarts at The Golden Gate. (bus back up!) Unfortunately the weather has turned. Very windy although we were able to have lunch in the garden in a sheltered area. Hot stones massage finished off an otherwise disappointing day very nicely!

Re: MADEIRA
Sounds lovely. My son loved Madeira when we stopped off in 2011. We always hope to stop there, but seem to stop more often at Ponta Delgada. At last however, one of our future cruises will be stopping at Madeira. If we could get him on a plane they actually do direct flights in the Summer now from here, but as I've said before he really can't board a plane these days.
