Amazed & Grateful

#1

Post by Dennis The Menace »

Morning All

Having amazingly now sold around 3000 copies of my book, it is my intention to forward the proceeds to a local breast cancer appeal which will enable, for the first time, breast cancer patients in North Wiltshire to have radiotherapy in Swindon rather than be subjected to a daily journey of anything up to 90 mins each way for this treatment. If you bought my book therefore, thanks very much, I believe you've contributed towards a very worthy cause. I hope my choice of beneficiary meets with your approval.

I've also applied to my former employer for a 50% matching of the monies raised, which I'm really hopeful about, but either way I hope there will be a decent four figure sum winging it's way to the appeal very, very soon.

In a couple of weeks time the book will hit it's 12 month anniversary so the fact it still sells the very occasional one is almost as surprising as the fact it's sold so many overall. I do plan to take it off sale in April but I hope I will always be able to secure a copy or two should anyone still want one in the future - in return for a small donation to a breast cancer charity of your choice! :-)

thanks again

What a fabulous thing to do Den - a very worthy cause - I'm sure we all know someone who has been affected by this awful disease - I'm sure a lot of people will be grateful for your generosity

A most worth cause and one that is particularly dear to my heart just at the moment. It's very good of you to think of others when you have issues yourself.

A charity close to our heart too. Well done. And appropriate too as well thumbed copies can be found in most of the Cancer Research shops.

Thanks very much all :)

Aside from a few remaining copies on the Cunard ships (and as Merv says, probably a number of charity shops :D ), the book is now no longer on sale, but I'm so chuffed that it sold as many as it did during those 12 months. Absolutely amazing.

That said, I've retained some paperback copies in the attic to bore future cruise companions, relatives etc should evidence of me being (in)famous for 15 mins ever be needed, or should someone contact me professing their desperation for a copy

Thanks again for all the support.

Oh yes, I haven't forgotten Alan, it's just I've barely left my own post code this last 12 months  Taking things steady hopefully means it's looking ok for our first proper cruise in 3 years this summer though :D

If you find yourself in my vicinity instead, please let me know - a more local pint might be a more realistic option at the moment
