I think you will find that Merv's review of the Maiden was very balanced and focused on many of the good points:

If we did that the reviews would be meaningless, they need to be balanced and fair so they give a true account, so that readers can see both sides.

Well, I won't be on it. Does that count?
I agree Mervyn gave a very balanced review of his time on her. However just as some will really love Britannia she won't be everybody's cup of tea. And not all ships are perfect, not even our favourites. However, for those going on a ship for the first time it is always helpful to have a balanced review and then we can make up our own minds.

I thought that ' Gill W's ' Britannia Maiden Cruise report( s x8 ) had considerable balance and was (were), dare I say it, a Tad less P&O biased than Mervs.

Pardon me Moby, yes Gill's was excellent but mine was most certainly not biased and covered good and bad, in my honest view there was more of the former to be found.

As others see it etc ... my honest comment was not intended to be a damning indictment of you or your writing skills.

I only asked a question in general but I see the usual suspects cant help themselves sniping with each other

I think you will find that is light hearted banter, not sniping.

And I think that you will also find that between us the usual suspects tried to assist with an answer to your question. Hope you enjoy Britannia as we did. She does have her faults, as do all ships, but overall she is a fine ship.

Unfortunately it does not come over as such to casual users. It took me some time to work out where it was banter and the ones that are not banter.

Sometimes the 'Banter' does get in the way of the information.

99% banter Dai, in my opinion

There has been the occasional poster who has maybe got a little bit too personal but overall, most don't take themselves to seriously.

Any casual user will probably think 'what the hell is going on here' but all regulars will know it's tongue in cheek.

Facecloth & Cruise Critic can get very nasty at times.

The thing that always tickles me are the people who go to all of the effort of logging in to a P&O forum with the sole intention of slaughtering P&O

Yes, I'd agree with that list

Thank you :D

I did agree with most of Merv's points as well.

I take a lot of the negative reviews with a pinch of salt, and go on my cruises with an open mind.

The reviews I do take notice of are ones by people on this forum, who I know to be fair minded (well, on the whole!)

Surely not on this Topic, Dai, the OP was afforded the best advice that he could possibly have with ' links ' to two excellent and comprehensive Britannia cruise reports ?

Well I have been attacked on here more than once for saying that I liked P&O not nice at all.

I would apologise if my little banter wiith that old fool Moby has caused any confusion or offence to anyone. But surely a liitle humour is permitted among friends, and this is generally speaking a friendly site?

Upon reflection, lest it be misunderstood, I withdraw the adjective 'old' from my reference to Moby above

There is no need, imo, for anybody to apologise but if the OP requests it I will strip out the ' Hijacking ' postings.

Regards ( aka that old fool ) Moby(Mod) ;)

I know this is an oldie but we were on Britannia over Christmas/New Year and have 99% positive things to say about her
- she was easy to get around (just think floors 7 and 16)
- around the pool food available
- adult only area
- plenty of loungers (although on sea days if you wanted a prime spot you needed to be up early)
- great bars and atmosphere
- the food and service in the main dining rooms was excellent
- the Beach House, Glass House and Limelight all had great food
- the buffet food was warm
- reasonable gym
- the market cafe and blue bar at the bottom of the atrium
- the absolutely amazing backdrops in the Headliners Theatre
- "Pulse" (band) who we boogied away to most nights

Even though I came down with a really bad cold for the last few days I can say that P&O and Britannia won the day and gave us a fantastic holiday.

Fully supported by me too.

We had a wonderful time on Britannia, even got to meet members of this forum and members from another forum also.

Always happy to be positive: never a moaner.
