Drinking in Cabins
What are the rules about drinking in cabins. I know I can purchase spirits and wine on-board for consumption in my cabin, but can I purchase spirits and wine ashore to consume in my cabin?
Always remember you're unique, like everyone else.

Yes. P&O are quite liberal (compared to many other cruise lines) in this respect.Mundiz wrote:can I purchase spirits and wine ashore to consume in my cabin?

OK, I'll confess that I have been known to 'appreciate' the odd bit of Vino.
On a couple of weeker, I generally take a wine box in my hand luggage and put it in the fridge in the cabin.
I'll also take a bottle of bubbly for us to enjoy while getting ready on the first formal night,
I find it sort of adds to the occasion.
The wine will be slowly consumed over the course of the cruise.
We often will have lunch on our balcony via room service, so it's nice to have a tipple with it.
I don't think I'd bother if we didn't have a balcony, but it's nice if you do.
I think the golden rule is don't go mad and P&O are fine about it.

I think that's fair comment. The only time I have seen anyone refused to bring booze aboard was when a group returned from a catamaran trip in the Caribbean, clearly the worse for wear and waving bottles around.
As a general rule, if you are sensible and just have booze for your own use (including cabin parties in our experience!) P&O are perfectly happy

We are not big drinkers but for occasions we bring a bottle or two of Tattinger Rose or for special occasions Cristal. Neither of which are sold on board.

If you do have an in-cabin party or even a special occasion a deux, the cabin stewards are always happy to provide suitable glasses on request. Just give them a day's notice if you can. They seem to have a secret stock in their pantries.

Princess certainly won't let you bring spirits on boards to take back to your cabin.
Not sure about wine or beer.

P&O do get a bit funny when you start wheeling crate loads on board, as Merv will tell you

Yeah, but Merv was trying to flog them off at a profit on his pop-up stall in the atrium !
