The best one that I have seen was a couple of years ago on Ventura. One night when we were in Metropolis having a pre dinner drink two women walked in with what were obviously glasses from the bathroom with drinks in them and proceeded to sit down as if it was normal - probably was for them!Dancing Queen wrote: ↑11 Jun 2019, 21:46I'm afraid I don't have any time for those who try to 'beat the system' and spend their time on their balconies drinking their own booze rather than using the bars and it happens a lot

I wonder if they go into their local pub with a can they bought from Aldi?

Re: P&O Suite v Cunard Princess Grills
We spent time in several Ports with an American group during a Princess cruise. They were transferring Bacardi and or gin into 1.5 ltr water / soft drink bottles and carrying them onboard without any problems at all. A common practice they advised.
That or going without is the price the Cruise Lines will logically pay if their bar prices are deemed to be too high by the passengers and especially so when 15% is added plus another 3% for the credit card exchange in certain circumstances.

I've read this many many times on forums but apparently the cruise lines are wise to it now
Cunard are very flexible on what they allow people to take on board at the moment but I don't think they will be much longer because it is being abused.

Best to stick with a posting that does not contain responses to ' Quotes ', like GillD46's for example and then do the same for another one to see if that works for you.

Pity I missed out on this - think I spotted you and SWMBO a couple of times on board, but not sure enough to speak - did you join the Cunard Ballroom Taliban one evening? If it was you, then your bravery does you credit.Mervyn and Trish wrote: ↑07 May 2019, 10:56Thanks Annie. We'll definitely have to meet for a drink on board. But don't tell Stephen.
Marvellous cruise, was it not? Wish someone would do 14 nights in the southern fjords.

When last seen tripping the light fantastic you were doing sterling work. Think I saw you in the Commodore Club and the library as well, but has the lovely SWMBO has changed her hair?Mervyn and Trish wrote: ↑13 Jun 2019, 19:28

I don't need any convincing but has anyone been tempted to give Cunard a try following Merv's excellent review.

Same for us, don't think I would like the limits on steerage passengers, and since we need an accessible cabin which is much bigger than standard we have have no need for a suite. Even if I could thoil paying for one

Re: P&O Suite v Cunard Princess Grills
We usually go on Cunard, occasionally in the Grills, mostly not. The areas reserved for Grills passengers are barely noticeable and certainly don't detract from our experience when we're in steerage.
My late Mother was from West Yorkshire -it's a long time since I heard the word 'thoil' and I've never seen it written down before; thank you for a lovely reminder (she used to use "can't thoil brass", said with a short 'a', of course).

Re: P&O Suite v Cunard Princess Grills
Annie is right John the areas reserved for Grill passengers is hardly noticeable - basically a different dining room and sun terrace, everything else is open to everyone to enjoy so really no limits at all'
I was just interested if anyone might think of giving Cunard a try as I frequently see passengers on board who I recognise from P&O.
Thoil isn't a word I've ever come across although I'm South Yorkshire rather than West but know lots of 'westies' so I think I must have led a very sheltered life
