Some old cruise banter.

#1

Post by Ray B »

With nothing sailing, there is not much cruising to discuss. So I popped down and had a rummage in the archives. I found a little Jem that made me chuckle.
It's a post from a topic on Waitrose free coffee. Several years ago and nothing has changed.

I think the problem is that people are going into the shops just for the coffee and not actually buying anything thus depriving regulars of their fix. On P&O ships it's the other way round with people who paid for their coffee hogging seats that others would like to use for doing their crosswords, or knitting, or reading

I would add sleeping as well, many the time we have gone for a coffee and had to go as the coffee shop was full. But as I said, QBs post did make me chuckle.

Over the past year with no cruising there will be a host of newbies who have received their new walking sticks and may still be using their fingers. The oldies will show them how it's done.

And of course use them in the buffet to stop anyone sitting at a table. They are multi functional 😏

TOP TIP
If one is grossly overweight it's a good plan to get to the theatre early to choose the seat next to the aisle to prevent everybody else getting to their seat 8-)

I do miss the start of the evenings on board. Getting dressed for dinner, then going down to a lounge for a pre dinner drink, little things that are all part of the cruise experience.

Finally going to bed after a good night's entertainment and some success in the casino, and finding the bed turned down with a chocolate in the pillow.

The same for me Ray.
I shall defiantly reserve judgement on whether to take our next booked cruise, based on the experience of others on the forum.
It's the overall experience that I'm concerned will be lost post covid.

It will be interesting to see what the views will be from those who are going on the first Southampton to Southampton starter cruises, and then when the proper cruises start Barney.
