WORDLE
Anyone else played this word game? I first heard of it on BBC Breakfast last week and googled it to find out more. It was invented by John Wardle for his puzzle mad partner and its quite addictive - it is only one puzzle every 24 hours - no apps or fees involved - you play it through your browser. If you like crosswords and word puzzles give it a try

Re: WORDLE
I've seen it mentioned on Facebook a lot. Had no idea what it was. I like puzzles so I'll have a look. Ta.

Re: WORDLE
I did today's in 3! The only one I really loused up was an early one - clearly hadn't read the instructions properly and thought that no repeated letters were allowed,
generally do it in 4

Re: WORDLE
Three tries for me - lot of luck involved don’t you think in the first word you insert - it’s a bit of fun and all the “experts” telling you how frequently letters are used etc takes that fun away.david63 wrote: ↑23 Jan 2022, 09:19It's here if anyone is looking for it - https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

Re: WORDLE
I enjoy Wordle, and have been doing it each day.
It’s a bit awkward when the daily word is an American spelling, as happened a week or so ago

I did it in four. I didn't realise but I've been practising by watching the TV programme Lingo on wet cold afternoons. Same idea. It's good. I'll be addicted soon! You're right Gill about US spellings. Obviously not seen them in this yet but they creep into other puzzles I do.

Re: WORDLE
I did it in three this morning, but I was very lucky with my second word.
Yesterday wasn’t a difficult word, but it took me all 6 attempts

It’s pretty good. Takes a few minutes but doesn’t need the time commitment of a crossword. It’s a lovely simple idea and at present there is no hassle of ‘sign ins’ or adverts. If you remember the old peg-board game ‘Mastermind’ it’s pretty much the same but letters replace pegs. On caveat…it uses American spellings but that has only affected one day’s puzzle so far…’favor’ caused me to crash out last week.

I knew I'd seen the concept of right or right but in the wrong place somewhere before. Yes it was that peg game.Ranchi wrote: ↑23 Jan 2022, 11:35It’s pretty good. It was a tricky one. My excuse anyway. I didn't allow for double letters or silent ones!
