Two litre water bottles
As P&O goes more greener, there was a post some time back, that I am sure said they were doing away with plastic water bottles.
Now I know I will find this out in a couple of weeks, but my question is, are the big six pack bottles of water still available to order?
We do get through a few bottles in the Caribbean.

Good question, 6 bottles of water is usually the first thing on our bill.

I don’t think anyone should be denied good clean drinking water whatever vessel it comes in.

Agreed, but it does not need to be in "one time" plastic. What is wrong with that which comes out of the tap?

Should come in recyclable bottles.
Also people should abide by the notices at the drink stations and not fill their own bottles there. It's hardly hygienic for others who follow after them.

Iona now has re fill stations for passengers to fill their own bottles, maybe they could retrofit these in the old ladies of the fleet. Incidentally what would be wrong with refilling your own bottles in the buffet by using the glasses provided to pour water into your own bottle?oldbluefox wrote: ↑18 Feb 2022, 22:42Should come in recyclable bottles.

That would be no problem but I have yet to see anybody doing it. Some push their bottles right up with clearly no sense of the hygiene hazard.
Thumbs up for the Iona system.

We refill a bottle from the tap in our bathroom and stick it in the fridge. The only difference from the water in the buffet is the latter is chilled.

Last time we cruised (whenever that was!), knowing that the small water bottles had been replaced by cans we bought a couple of collapsible silicon bottles to take with us which we filled from the tap and then chilled in the fridge.

We do the same, but there are some who believe the water in the buffet is purified, and will never change their mind.Mervyn and Trish wrote: ↑19 Feb 2022, 08:25We refill a bottle from the tap in our bathroom and stick it in the fridge. Bottled water is also the first thing we ask the steward to get for us. And being a captive audience P&O aren’t shy with their pricing for it either.
Whether it’s a small price to pay in the grand scheme of things is irrelevant, it’s still a rip off.

I just have this total aversion of paying for water when it is free. Never buy it in a restaurant - always ask for tap water. The only time I have ever paid for water was when we were in India, and you really have no other choice there.
Very rarely have I found water that I have not liked the taste of.

Obviously the water on ship is potable, but it's just the convenience we find having a bottle in the fridge.
I thought there were signs at the beverage stations asking not to refill water bottles, it is a health hazard which some passengers like to ignore. They maybe think it comes from a mountain stream.
I asked the question, as by now, a few would have taken a cruise.

Certainly a money maker in restaurants, where some, charges the price of cheap wine.david63 wrote: ↑19 Feb 2022, 09:25I just have this total aversion of paying for water when it is free. There are, or at least there were, but you know that there are who are "on their holidays" so the rules do not apply them as they can do what they want.
The other one that annoys me is those who fill their bottles with orange juice in a morning

"I've paid for it so I'll take whatever I can!!"
To see them waddling out with stacks of food wrapped in a napkin, their picnic for the day on a shore day.
It's quite pathetic to see really but each to their own.

Re: Two litre water bottles
I just spent this afternoon seeing what still fits me after 2 years of lockdown ... not good, have had to order some new items. Interestingly one of the pairs of trainers I use for daytime wear has sort of disintegrated a bit (mustn't have liked being stuffed in the roof space for 2 years) ... had to be thrown out.
Have also started getting all the paper work in order. PCR tests booked; masks on order; items printed out and transferred to my mobile.
The one thing I have noticed with both P&O and the giv.uk website is that they make no effort to target the information. link after link after link - even the email took 12 pages to print out (but is a good checklist). I am thinking of returning the favour when they ask for paperwork, just give them a tome of paper and tell them the information they seek it is in there somewhere.
