Apparently Tesco are rationing some items in fear of panic buying.
Didn't see any signs of panic buying ot rationing at our Tesco this morning.

The only item that seemed a bit on the low side was pasta

as my phone battery is so ropey, I’m concerned that another app running in the background will kill the battery once and for all
The NHS Covid-19 app does not seem to use much battery power - in fact there was hardly any more battery useage than normal, which is what it is claimed to be the case.

I went to Tesco earlier and they had a member of staff standing at the loo rolls asking people to not take more than they needed.
Shame them into being reasonable seems a good idea.

It was also a shortage of pasta at the start of the pandemic, especially so the plastic varieties.

Just listening to critics of Rishi's new plans on the news, all saying it does not go far enough. However no one has come up with an alternative option that would not require more money. So until they can conjure more money that does not increase the national debt my advice to them is to belt up.

I know what my phone is like. The slightest use can suck the life out of it.

I will have to get a new one at some point. I haven’t bothered, as I haven’t gone out as much as normal.

However, I have downloaded the app now, and I’m monitoring what’s happening , although I haven’t left the house yet. If the battery use is too bad, I’ll have to delete it.

It matters little as to what scheme any Government were to bring out as there will always be winners and there will always be losers not mention that someone, somewhere will criticise it for either not going far enough or going too far.

As a Labour supporter I admit that I’m pretty disappointed with our response so far.
It’s one thing not to try and make capital out of a crisis but Sir K and others have been given plenty of opportunity to offer alternative views.
I’ve seen interviews where they have been ask outright, what would you do?
They have skirted the issue and given a load of blah blah.
I’m not happy that we haven’t been offered a single opinion from Labour and it hasn’t gone unnoticed by many.
Sir K’s current stance appears to be no more than ‘I’m not Jeremy Corbyn’
That will only carry him so far.
I see him as a PM but if he stays on the fence, he’ll get splinters.
Come the next election, I fully expect Rishi Sunak to be PM and Sir K will have to up his game.
Johnson is an easy target because of his history but Sunak doesn’t seem to have skeletons.

Makes no difference as to whether you leave the house or not as it is scanning all the time (assuming you have Contact tracing turned on)

You could always turn the other battery draining app off if that is of such a concern.

If it was a Labour govt doing similar things, then I hope I would be supportive of them in general, and would only be criticising them for not answering their critics more robustly with clearer explanations of what is going wrong and what actions are being taken to rectify the problems. Which in my view is the main beef I have with BJ and his cabinet.

As I said - I know my phone.

The battery is rather knackered. When I leave the house, the battery drains faster as it is looking for an internet connection. I don't really want to have to keep faffing around to turn the wifi off.

It's not just one other battery draining app, it's the battery that is the issue.

The long term solution is to get a new phone, which I will be doing. In the interim, I work with what I've got.

I think most people are supporting the government in that we are doing what the government asks us to do in relation to COVID. You yourself say that you have some beefs with Johnson and his cabinet, so it's only to be expected that other people will have other beefs and will speak up about them. Anyway, if people kept quiet, and didn't speak up until later, they'd be hit with the hindsight card!

I have a Garmin SatNav with the same problem ... why can't we just replace the blasted batteries rather than having to buy a new device ?

My little gadget shop man did a sort of 2 Ronnie's suck of the teeth when I took my HTC phone in to see if he could replace the battery, before telling me they were the worst phones for replacing batteries. I imagine he uses the same script for every other make of phone as well.

Definitely not, if you kill them then you can't make them suffer.
Would also seem a waste of perfectly good harvestable body parts for those that deserve them (anaesthetic optional).

No because courts can make mistakes that are discovered later. But I would support a standard non variable whole life sentence with no parole possibility ever. In the harshest prison available.

I'm sort of with Merv on this with the proviso that I don't have to pay for their upkeep for however many years.

Should certainly seize all.their assets. And keep costs as low as possible. If a pensioner can live on £7k so can they!

I hear that Diversity are going to do a dance for the shot police officer on BGT. (Not)
Unfortunately I expect the name of George Floyd, convicted drug dealer will be remembered long after the name of this copper doing his job.
