Osbourne claimed it was under control and was reversing us out of the make-believe austerity ... are you saying, that like Johnson, Osbourne was another Tory liar? Are you saying that after 5 years of Tory government they failed to achieve any economic advancement or changes to any policies? I hadn't realised they had just sat about with their feet on their desks doing nothing.
Osborne told us the revenue account was in balance. i.e. the supertanker had stopped. Iit had not started moving astern. What he liied about, along with Cameron, was the immediate consequences of Brexit. Then of course the pair of them buggered off when they didn't get the result they wanted. Remainers efforts to derail Brexit then halted government attention to anything else for years. Then along came Covid.

So you are sticking with the 'it is always somebody elses fault' argument.

Merv's points were very relevant. You cannot deny or ignore what has gone before.

It appears the clown PM has sacked Gove. That should free him up to position himself as a new leader (should please Keith) ... I still don't trust Gove though. I am sure that our con man PM, who has botched up nearly everything he touches, is now scraping around the bottom of the barrel for replacements to stand in his government ... there must still be a few bottom feeders within the tory ranks that would sell their children for a political post.

Following that argument towards its logical conclusion then it wasn't Blair/Browns fault it was actually Thatchers fault ... or Churchill's ... or Walpole's ... can you not see how asinine that sounds?

Basically the only conclusion of such arguments seems to be that we have had 12 years of ineffective tory liars and incompetents that have totally failed to address or deliver any benefits to the economy while running up an estimated £1.5trillion of debt ... and the only excuse for the mess they have created is the bleating cry of 'it is somebody elses fault' ... or the totally made up 'Corbyn would have been worse'.

Face it Ken you're in denial. Brown shafted the economy full stop. I expect you're clever enough to have a pension lined up. But just think how much more it would have been if Brown hadn't stolen it. You can't blame Boris for that. And there's no need to make up what Corbyn would have done. Did you not read his spend spend spend manifesto?

I note that you have not responded to my last post Ken, I would have thought that colossal brain of yours would have found some counter argument, along with your usual scathing comments.

Those in denial are the ones whose only arguments are based on 'whataboutery' and 'it is someone elses fault'.
I love it that your only argument is about how ineffective and incompetent 12 years of toryism has been.
I agree with you about the pension ... you need to get over it though that was 25 years ago.

So you are saying that Corbyn's plans were no different to this governments ... who have verifiably spent, spent, spent ... having run up over £1.5tn of additional debt during a period of economic expansion. Even today with the record levels of debt Johnson is still looking to distract from his problems by delivering tax cuts that the country cannot afford ... cuts the chancellor and BoE advised against... but then again, following your line of argument, if he delivers those tax cuts then we should be blaming Gordon Brown.

It’s getting like that, Ken.

All joking aside, it’s actually getting really weird.

He’s now had so many resignations, he probably hasn’t got enough people to fill the vacancies. He can’t form a government, so he’s playing the populism card, as if he was directly voted by ‘the people’.

Very dangerous territory.

I think it’s time for you in this forum to stop bickering about the past and face what is happening now, in real time.

He always tries to distract from reality hoping it will go away. On GMB this morning Quentin Letts was making a reference to a power related madness ... comparing Johnson to Putin.
Very dangerous territory.
Indeed, and one big concern is that history shows that Johnson is very spiteful and when he goes down he tries to take everyone with him!!
However I am not convinced he will survive this week, maybe Carrie will have a word in his shell-like letting him know how unpopular he has made himself, and maybe tell him it is in the country's best interests for him to go ... at the minute all he is doing is more damage to the country, the tories and the tatters of his own reputation.

Now come on. Be fair. It won't be a party it'll be a work event.

P.s. Sir Hindsight will bring the beer and curry.

All we need now is the Durham police to fine Sir Hindsight and it's Ed Davey or Mrs Krankie for PM.

Why do the TV news give that toss Dominic Cumming coverage of his tweets. He's the snake in the grass.

Hi Ken, I would be delighted if this should happen but I fear I will be disappointed again. Perhaps now is the time to move away from personality politicians and move towards those who have a proven track record of getting things done.

Agree totally, we can see the mess and damage a 'personality politician' can do in only a few years.
Not sure Gove has crowned himself in glory though as the 'Minister for Levelling Up' ... I haven't seen much evidence of anything tangible being delivered.

No doubt the media will be getting their long knives sharp pens out staring to dig up whatever they can on any potential candidates to be the next leader.

Perhaps it would be easier to ask the BBC who they want as leader, it would save a lot of time - oh sorry cannot do that as they would have nothing to complain about.
