How nice to read such good news. Congratulations Carole and best wishes for a happy future to Willow - I also like her name.

Just caught up with this thread and sending positive prayers and thoughts to baby Sophie.

My daughter had a little boy at the end of the August - our first grandson and he is doing fine. Strangely enough they called him
Alexander Jesse. Jesse was my dad's middle name so it seems to be making a comeback!

I haven't liked to "harp on" as it isn't as important to others as it is to me.

Sophie is doing really well. She is now 35 weeks, over seven weeks since birth, 5lbs from 2lbs 6ozs, off all oxygen and breathing completely independently, out of the incubator and maintaining her own temperature. She still has the occasional de-sat, when she forgets to breathe, but comes out of herself after a few seconds. As yet she isn't feeding much, her sucking reflex is still immature, but she is being offered the breast each time before her tube feed.

Once her feeding is better, which will hopefully be in the next three weeks maybe, she can go home partially tube fed. They say these babies are usually off the tube within a fortnight of going home. So fingers crossed, she will be home in early December.

Thank you for asking, Mavis.

PS Caroline is spending up to ten hours a day at the Unit, so is very, very tired, but hanging on in there very well.

Good news Gill - loved the photo of proud grandmother giving baby Sophie her first cwtch - isn't it just the most wonderful feeling - you looked so happy.

lovely photo - glad she's coming along well.

If she were in Evalina ( St Thomas) she might have had one of my sets of hand-knitted clothes!

We were only talking about the kind ladies that knit the little hats on Sunday. She doesn't need one during the day any more, but they still put one on at night. Bless you, Meg.
