Cruise personaliser

Unread post by bassman67 »

I booked my cruise on 10th April and I've had the comfirmation invoice, but I can't access it on Cruise Personaliser. Is anyone else having the same problem?

Checking other post on this (Ken), I can access if I add the P&O site to compatibility view. Apparently, it can't cope with Win8 and IE10. They are too new for P&O, it seems!

No problems here. I'm using Firefox with Windows 7.
I was taught to be cautious

We have windows 8 and I use google to look for things and we have no problem with POs cruise personaliser, in fact I looked our entry up yesterday. Mind you, I don't particularly like windows 8 but then I make fairly limited use of the internet, except for cruising deals and forums etc.

What I find annoying is that I had an email yesterday saying that I could access my Cruise Personaliser but every time I try I am getting an error message. In the grand scheme of things it is no big deal as we are not cruising for another 20 months.

I refuse point blank to change any settings (not that there are any in Firefox), change my browser or do anything else - it is P&O's responsibility to have their systems working to the correct standards (only Microsoft can get away with ignoring standards!).

If it is not working tomorrow (I will give them the benefit of the weekend - because I am good like that  ) then emails will be sent to a high level.

It's not so much the operating system as the Internet browser that you're using. Some versions of Internet Explorer need to be used in 'Compatibility Mode'. It's not obvious how to do that but a quick Google should soon tell you. Check your version of IE first by looking at help->about. Alt-H should bring up the help menu.

As you can tell QB, I'm not computer savvy - son has to sort things out regularly. It looks like I use Google Chrome - does that make more sense ?

Indeed it does, Chrome is a different browser to Internet Explorer which just seems to keep getting worse with age.

I use internet explorer but it is not very slick and mine just decided it would not play videos. The solution was to load google chrome onto the desktop, the videos run fine now.

My computer is getting ancient and with Micrsosoft no longer supporting windows XP it is time for some retail therapy. I had a good think and it tuns out there are 3 or 4 applications that I run on the PC, plus browsing the net and emails.

My preferred solution is to just disconnect the PC from the home hub and continue to run the apps i want free of possible security and virus issues. For browsing and email buy a tablet which would pair nicely with the new BT infinity hub awaiting delivery. I still need to decide on which tablet, google Nexus or a Kindle HDX.

Dave - both my son and I had problems with the Google Nexus connections to the charger. His was replaced at 11 months and PC world did eventually replace mine although it was 14 months old - I was able to quote from some bad reviews regarding the connection problem. Funnily enough, when we took ours back to PC world there was someone else there making the same complaint. I understand there is an updated version available and that seems to get better reviews as value for money.

We changed over to an I Pad in frustration.

Hopefully a computer expert on here can advise you better.

Honest injun, it is - I've just gone in again to double check. I go in using cruise personaliser at the top of the page and I went through to the shore excursions for Iceland again. Is there something else playing up as I didn't check all the pages?

Have just realised that you are probably talking about the bit where you update passport and insurance details etc. Didn't check that page so I'm probably wrong and there is only access to certain things but not the most important page.

I've just received this:

Dear Mrs ....,
The wait's nearly over! Soon you'll be boarding Arcadia and although we can't promise that Marco Pierre White and Atul Kochhar will be cooking in the kitchen, we can guarantee that in the Ocean Grill and East you'll dine on dishes created exclusively for P&O Cruises by these two famous Food Heroes.

Both 'Select Dining' restaurants are available in addition to your inclusive dining options for just a small cover charge - trust us when we say your taste buds will thank you!

trouble is we're on Adonia...

went onto FB to comment and found an identical complaint - same email, but he's sailing on Azura!

I replied and only when the auto reply came back did it emerge that the address was a 'no reply' one - nothing in the header by way of warning!
