New Book on Line Format

Unread post by Anne D »

Have just discovered the new' book on line' format for P@O and Cunard.
I don't like it at all and think the old version much more user friendly.

I don't usually book on line but go direct to the company and book by phone but often do a dummy booking to see what is available.
This new version in my opinion makes that more difficult.

Having just had a quick look I think that it is very good and a vast improvement over the previous version AND there is an option to opt out of free upgrades

I'm with David on this - much better and very clear. I like the link to the deck plans so you can check what cabins you're being offered as well as the clear do not upgrade box.

And all a dummy booking needs is for you to invent two first names. No problem.

I used Mervyn and Trish when I tried it and for some inexplicable reason they were accepted

One of the best online booking facilities is from Princess which is far better than this new P&O version, it lets you easily amend your choice and provides all the available cabins as well. Since they are also part of Carnival one wonders why P&O/Cunard did not just adopt this system.

New 'easier' booking on-line

Unread post by Lollie »

Email to-day from P&O mentioning amongst other things their new easier on-line booking system. Intrigued I had a look, I cannot see anything 'easier' about it, it takes ages, especially if you want to check out a few different cabin grades, I used to find it really easy to flick between one and another, now it seems a major exercise.

I don't like it either. It may have some good points, but for a dummy booking, it's pretty clunky I think.

I think the majority of people do dummy bookings to look at total package price etc, to make it a major mission will impact badly I am sure. I do agree the deckplan link is good though.

I do the dummy bookings to see which cabins are available - I found that very tiresome with the new booking engine.

It is of course possible that P&O introduced this with the intention of making real bookings easier - rather than dummy ones!

Merv you are attributing intelligence to P&O's IT dept., when we all know none exists.

Sorry, my mistake! Still like the new format though, even if it has happened by accident!

Seems to me to be yet another IT idea by someone who actually does not use the system for the purpose they are working on. Ok they may be trying to make people phone but actually I would much rather play around with ideas before doing that, also if people are phoning and spending ages on the phone P&O will need more people in their call centre with loads of patience!
